3 Hanks BERROCO VOYAGE (50 grs), #4030 Satchel (MC)
1 Ball BERROCO NANUK (50 grs), #5403 Narwhal (CC)
Straight knitting needles, size 10 (6.00 mm) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Crochet hook, size 4.00 mm (G-6)

GAUGE
18 sts = 4”; 26 rows = 4” in St st with MC
14 sts = 4”; 22 rows = 4” in St st with CC

HAT

RIGHT EARFLAP AND SIDE

With straight needles, using MC, cast on 7 sts.  Work even in St st for 2 rows, end on WS.  Inc 1 st each side on next row, every RS row once more, every 4th row 3 times, every 6th row twice, then every 8th row twice, end on WS – 25 sts.   Mark beg of last row.  Work even until piece measures 9½" from beg, end on WS.

Shape Top:  Dec Row (RS):  K to last 3 sts, SSK, k1 – 24 sts.  Rep this dec every 4th row 6 times more, end on WS – 18 sts.  Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 4 rows.  Bind off remaining 10 sts.

LEFT EARFLAP AND SIDE

Work same as right earflap and side until inc rows have been completed, end on WS.  Mark beg of next row.  Work even until piece measures 9½" from beg, end on WS – 25 sts.

Shape Top:  Dec Row (RS):  K1, k2 tog, k to end – 24 sts.  Rep this dec every 4th row 6 times more, end on WS – 18 sts.  Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 4 rows.  Bind off remaining 10 sts.

CENTER PANEL

With straight needles, using MC, cast on 19 sts.  Work even in St st for 4”, end on WS.

Inc Row (RS):  K1, M1k, k to last st, M1k, k1 – 21 sts.  Rep this inc every 6th row 4 times more – 29 sts.  Work even until piece measures 13” from beg, end on WS.  Bind off.

FRONT PANEL

With straight needles, using CC, cast on 29 sts.  Work even in St st for 6 rows, end on WS.

Dec Row (RS):  K2 tog, k to last 2 sts, SSK – 27 sts.  Rep this dec every 6th row once, then every 4th row once – 23 sts.  Work even until piece measures 4” from beg, end on WS.  Bind off.

FINISHING

With RS facing, using crochet hook and CC, work in sc around each earflap and side section and around center section.  Sew bound-off edge of front panel to bound-off edge of center panel.  Pin side edges of center panel and front panel to earflaps and sides with cast-on edge of center panel even with markers.  Sew in place with seams on RS of work so that CC edging shows.
