MATERIALS
BERROCO SMART COTTON (50 grs), 4(5-6-7) balls #1302 White Linen.
29" length circular knitting needle, size 7 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
Straight knitting needles, size 5.
Crochet hook, size 3.50 mm (E).
3/4 wide elastic cut to fit comfortably around waist plus 1".
GAUGE
9 sts = 2"; 15 rows = 2" in Lace Pat with size 7 needle.
21 sts = 4" in St st with size 5 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
LACE PAT
Row 1 and all other WS rows: Purl.
Rows 2, 6 and 10: K 1, * (yo, SSK) twice, yo, sl 1, k 2 tog, psso, yo, (k 2 tog, yo) twice, k 1, rep from * across.
Rows 4 and 8: K 1, * k 1, (yo, SSK) twice, k 1, (k 2 tog, yo) twice, k 2, rep from * across.
Rows 12 and 16: K 2 tog, yo, * (k 2 tog, yo) twice, k 1, (yo, SSK) twice, yo, sl 1, k 2 tog, psso, yo, rep from * to last 11 sts, end (k 2 tog, yo) twice, k 1, (yo, SSK) 3 times.
Rows 14 and 18: K 1, * (k 2 tog, yo) twice, k 3, (yo, SSK) twice, k 1, rep from * across.
Row 20: Rep Row 12.
Rep these 20 rows for Lace Pat.
SKIRT
With size 7 circular needle, cast on 133 (145-157-169) sts. DO NOT JOIN. Working back and forth, work even in Lace Pat until piece measures 10(14-16-18) from beg, end on RS. Change to size 5 needles. P the next row, dec 28(30-29-30) sts evenly spaced across - 105(115-128-139) sts.
Waistband: Work even in St st for 1", end on WS. P 1 row. Beg with a p row, work even in St st until waistband measures 1" above p ridge, end on WS. Bind off all sts.
FINISHING
Steam piece (See instructions on page 1). Sew back seam. Fold waistband to inside along p ridge and sl st in place, leaving a 2" opening. Thread elastic through waistband with large safety pin. Overlap ends and sew firmly tog. Close waistband opening.
Edging: With RS facing, using crochet hook, join yarn at back seam. * Sc in first yo space of skirt, in next yo space work dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc (shell made), rep from * around, join with a sl st in first sc. Steam edging.
