BERROCO FURZ (50 grs), 8(9-10-11) balls #3803 Taupe (MC).
BERROCO SENSUWOOL® (50 grs), 2(3-3-3)balls #6503 Taupe (CC).
Straight knitting needles, sizes 5 and 10 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
7 1" BERROCO buttons #A103 Taupe
2 St Holders.
GAUGE
4 sts = 1"; 5 rows = 1" in St st with MC on size 10 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
BACK
With smaller needles, using CC, cast on 130(138-146-158) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across.
Row 2: P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows for 2", end on Row 1. Change to larger needles and MC. P the next row, dec 50 sts evenly spaced across 80(88-96-108) sts. Beg with a k row, work even in St st until piece measures 12-1/2" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 3(3-3-5) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every RS row 7 times 60(68-76-84) sts. Work even until armholes measure 8-1/2", end on WS.
Shape Shoulders: Bind off 5(6-7-9) sts at beg of the next 4 rows, then 4(6-8-8) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Bind off remaining 32 sts for neck.
LEFT FRONT
With smaller needles, using CC, cast on 70(74-78-82) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across.
Row 2: K1, p1, * k2, p2, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows for 2", end on Row 1.
Next Row (WS): Work 10 sts and sl these sts onto holder for frontband, change to larger needles and MC, purl, dec 23(24-23-21) sts evenly spaced across 37(40-45-51) sts. Beg with a k row, work even in St st until piece measures 12-1/2" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armhole: Bind off 3(3-3-5) sts at beg of the next row. Dec 1 st at armhole edge every RS row 7 times 27(30-35-39) sts. Work even until armhole measures 7", end on RS.
Shape Neck: Bind off 5 sts at beg of the next row, then dec 1 st at neck edge EVERY row 8 times. AT THE SAME TIME, when armhole measures 8-1/2", shape shoulder same as for back.
RIGHT FRONT
With smaller needles, using CC, cast on 70(74-78-82) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across.
Row 2: * P2, k2, rep from * to last 2 sts, p1, k1. Rep these 2 rows for 1", end on Row 2.
Buttonhole (RS): K2, p2, bind off 2 sts, work in ribbing as established to end.
Next Row: Work in ribbing as established, cast on 2 sts over sts bound off on previous row. Work even in ribbing until piece measures 2" from beg, end on RS. Change to larger needles and MC, purl, dec 23(24-23-21) sts evenly spaced across next 60(64-68-72) sts, sl last 10 sts onto holder for frontband 37(40-45-51) sts. Complete to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping.
SLEEVES
With smaller needles, using CC, cast on 50 sts. Work in ribbing same as for back for 2", end on Row 1. Change to larger needles and MC, purl, dec 14 sts evenly spaced across 36 sts. Beg with a k row, work in St st, inc 1 st each side every 4th row 0(0-0-8) times, every 6th row 0(9-12-6) times, then every 8th row 10(3-0-0) times 56(60-60-64) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 20(19-18-17)" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then work 2(2-2-0) rows even. Dec 1 st each side of next row, then every 4th(4th-4th-6th) row twice, end on WS - 46(50-50-54) sts. Bind off all sts loosely.
FINISHING
Steam pieces lightly.
Left Frontband: With RS facing, sl 10 sts from holder to smaller needle. Join CC, inc 1, work in ribbing to end 11 sts.
Next Row: K1, p1, (k2, p2) twice, k1. Work even in ribbing as established until frontband, when slightly stretched, reaches to beg of neck shaping, dec 1 st at end of last row, end on WS. Sl 10 sts onto holder. Sew frontband to front edge of sweater. Mark position of 6 buttons evenly spaced along frontband, the first 1" up from lower edge and the last 2-3/4" below upper edge (the 7th buttonhole will be made in neckband).
Right Frontband: With WS facing, sl 10 sts from holder to smaller needle. Join CC, inc 1, work in ribbing to end 11 sts. Complete to correspond to left frontband, making 5 more buttonholes opposite markers on left frontband and decreasing 1 st at beg of last row, end on RS. Sew frontband to front edge of sweater. Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: With RS facing, sl 10 sts from right front holder to smaller needle, join CC and pick up and k24 sts along right front neck edge, 42 sts across back neck edge, 24 sts along left front neck edge then work in ribbing across 10 sts of left front holder 110 sts.
Row 1 (WS): K1, p1, * k2, p2, rep from * to last 4 sts, k2, p1, k1.
Row 2: K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until neckband measures 3/4", end on Row 1. Make buttonhole on next row, then work even in ribbing until neckband measures 1-1/2". Bind off all sts in ribbing. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew on buttons.
