MATERIALS
BERROCO SENSUWOOL® (50 grs), 15(16-16-17-17) balls #6606 Wall St. Navy.
Straight knitting needles, size 7 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
16" length circular knitting needle, size 7.
1 St Marker.

GAUGE
21 sts = 4"; 29 rows = 4" in St st.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

STITCH GLOSSARY
K2SP

K2 tog, then sl st back to LH needle, lift 2nd st on LH needle back over returned st and replace returned st on RH needle (dec 2).

BACK
With straight needles, cast on 104(120-128-136-152) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K8(8-0-8-8), * p8, k8, rep from * across.
Row 2: K the k sts and p the p sts as they face you. Rep these 2 rows for 31/2", end on WS, dec 1 st each end of last row – 102(118-126-134-150) sts. Work in St st, dec 1 st each side every 2-1/2(1-1/4-1-1/2-2-2)" 3(6-5-4-4) times – 96(106-116-126-142) sts. Work even until piece measures 12-1/2" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 2(3-5-5-8) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Work 2 rows even.
Row 5: K3, K2SP, k to last 6 sts, sl 1, k2 tog, psso, k3.
Rows 6 and 8: Purl.
Row 7: Knit. Rep Rows 5 through8 2(2-2-3-3) times more – 80(88-94-100-110) sts. Work even until armholes measure 81/2", end on WS.
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 6(8-9-10-11) sts at beg of the next row, work until there are 16(18-20-22-26) sts on RH needle, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 36 sts, k to end. Working both sides at once, bind off 6(8-9-10-11) sts at beg of the next row, then 7(8-9-10-12) sts at beg of the next 4 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row twice.

FRONT
With straight needles, cast on 104(120-128-136-152) sts.
Row 1 (RS): P8, * k8, p8, rep from * across, end k0(0-8-0-0).
Row 2: K the k sts and p the p sts as they face you. Rep these 2 rows for 31/2", end on WS, dec 1 st each side of last row – 102(118-126-134-150) sts. Work same as for back until armholes measure 7", end on WS.
Note: Work decs on left side of neck as sl 1, k2 tog, psso, k3. Work decs on right side of neck as k3, K2SP.
Shape Neck: Work 26(30-33-36-41) sts, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 28 sts, k to end. Working both sides at once, dec 2 sts at each neck edge, as in note, every other RS row 3 times – 20(24-27-30-35) sts each side. AT THE SAME TIME, when armholes measure 8-1/2", shape shoulders same as for back.

SLEEVES
With straight needles, cast on 46 sts.
Row 1 (RS): K3, (p8, k8) twice, p8, k3.
Row 2: K the k sts and p the p sts as they face you. Rep these 2 rows for 31/2", end on WS, dec 1 st each end of last row – 44 sts. Work in St st, inc 1 st each side every other row 0(0-0-5-13) times, every 4th row 0(2-14-20-16) times, every 6th row 11(15(7-0-0) times, then every 8th row 4(0-0-0-0) times – 74(78-86-94-102) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 18-1/2(18-1/2-181/2-17-1/2-17-1/2)" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 2(3-5-5-8) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then work 2(2-2-0-2) rows even. Working in same manner as for back armholes, dec 1 st each side every other row 4(0-0-9-8) times, then every 4th row 1(3-3-0-0) times, end on WS - 60(66-70-66-70 sts. Bind off all sts loosely.

FINISHING
Steam pieces. Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at center back, pick up and k20 sts to left shoulder seam, 22 sts along left front neck edge, 28sts across front neck edge, 22 sts along right front neck edge and 20 sts across remaining back neck edge – 112 sts. Mark for beg of round and carry marker up. Work even in k8, p8 ribbing for 8". Bind off in ribbing. Sew in sleeves, stretching cap slightly to fit. Sew side and sleeve seams.
