shaping and a ovely artful collar.

 

Shown in size Medium/Large.

SIZES
Directions are for women’s size Small. Changes for Medium/Large and X-Large are in parentheses.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Lower edge - 49 (53-60)".
Bust - 36 (39-1/2-46)".
Length - 27 (27-28-1/2)".

MATERIALS
BERROCO MOHAIR CLASSIC HEATHER (43 grs), 10(11-12 ) balls #A6408 (A).
BERROCO CELESTE (50 grs), 8(9-10) balls #4015 Barberry (B).
Straight knitting needles size 10-1/2 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
2 36" length circular knitting needles, size 10.
Stitch holders.

GAUGE
14 sts = 4"; 16 rows = 4" in k3, p3 rib using 1 strand each A & B held tog on size 10-1/2 needles.
13 sts = 4"; 18 rows = 4" in St st (for collar) using 1 strand each A & B held tog on size 10 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

NOTE
Work with 1 strand A & B tog throughout.

BACK
With size 10_ needles and 1 strand A & B held tog, cast on 87 (93-105) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K3, *p3, k3; rep from * to end.
Row 2: P3, *k3, p3; rep from * to end. Rep these 2 rows for k3, p3 rib for 2" (8 rows from beg).
**Dec row 1 (RS): Rib 9 sts, place marker, p2tog, rib to last 11 sts, p2tog, place marker, rib 9 sts. Work even in rib for 5 rows. Rep dec row 1. Work even in rib for 5 rows.
*Dec row 2 (RS): Rib 9 sts, ssk, rib to last 11 sts, k2tog, rib 9 sts. Work even in rib for 5 rows*. Rep between *’s twice more. Rep dec row 1**. Work even in rib for 5 rows. Rep between **’s once more - 63 (69-81) sts. Work even in rib until piece measures 17-1/2 (17-1/2-18)" from beg.
Shape raglan armholes: Next row (RS): K1, ssk, rib to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. Continue to dec 1 st each side (just inside selvage sts) EVERY row 13 (19-27) times more, then every 2nd row 9 (6-4) times - 17 sts remain. Work 1 more WS row and sl these sts to a holder.

FRONT
Work as for back to armholes.
Shape raglan armholes (read before beginning to knit): Working decs inside selvage sts, dec 1 st each side EVERY row 16 (22-30) times, then every 2nd row 6 (3-1) times and AT SAME TIME, when 25 (25-29) sts remain, shape neck by binding off center 7 sts on next row, then binding off 3 sts from each neck edge every other row twice. Fasten off last st each side.

LEFT SLEEVE
Note: Read instructions carefully for chosen size before beginning to knit.
With size 10_ needles and 1 strand A & B held tog, cast on 33 (33-39) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K3, *p3, k3; rep from * to end. Continue in k3, p3 rib as established for 4" (16 rows).
For Small and Medium/Large Sizes ONLY: *Inc row 1 (RS): K3, (p3, k3) twice, M1P, place marker, p3, place marker, M1P, rib to end. Continue to inc 1 st (before and after markers) each side of center 3 sts as follows: (Work 3 rows even, rep inc row 1) twice, work 3 rows even.
Inc row 2 (RS): Rib to first marker, M1K, sl marker, p3, sl marker, M1K, rib to end. (Work 3 rows even, rep inc row 2) twice *. Work 3 rows even. Rep between *’s once more - 57 sts.
For X-Large Size ONLY: *Inc row 1 (RS): (K3, p3) 3 times, M1K, place marker, k3, place marker M1K, rib to end. Continue to inc 1 st (before and after markers) each side of center 3 sts as follows: (Work 3 rows even, rep inc row 1) twice, work 3 rows even.
Inc row 2 (RS): Rib to first marker, M1P, sl marker, k3, sl marker, M1P, rib to end. (Work 3 rows even, rep inc row 2) twice *. Work 3 rows even. Rep between *’s once more - 63 sts.
For ALL sizes: Work even on 57 (57-63) sts until piece measures 17" from beg.
Shape raglan cap: Note: Read for back and front decs before beg to knit.
For back decs (at beg of RS rows), work k3, p3, k2, SSK. For front decs (at end of RS rows), work k2 tog, k2, p3, k3. Work back decs every 2nd row 15(15-21) times, then every 4th row 3(3-1) times. AT THE SAME TIME, work front decs every 2nd row 13(13-15) times, then every 4th row 3 times. When all front decs have been completed, work short row shaping as follows:
Next row (RS): Continue back raglan shaping, work to last 8 sts, leave these sts unworked and turn.
Next row (WS): Sl 1, work to end. Rep these 2 rows once more.
Next row (RS): Work to last 7 sts, turn.
Next row (WS): Sl 1, work to end. Sl all 23 sts to a holder.

RIGHT SLEEVE
Work to correspond to left sleeve, reversing cap shaping for back and front.

FINISHING
Block pieces to measurements. Sewraglan sleeves into armholes. Sew side and sleeve seams.
Collar: With size 10 circular needle and 1 strand A & B held tog, beg at top of left neck edge, pick up and k 24 sts around shaped front neck, 23 sts from right sleeve holder, 17 sts from back neck holder, 23 sts from left sleeve holder, then cast on 24 sts for under collar - 111 sts. Working with 2nd circular needle, work back and forth on circular needle on all 111 sts as follows:
Row 1 (WS): P to last st, leave that st unworked, turn.
Row 2: Sl 1, k to last st, leave this st unworked, turn. Continue to work short rows in this way by sl first st every row and leave 1 more st unworked at end of every row 10 more times (for 6 sts left unworked at each edge). Then, leave 2 sts unworked at end of every row 6 times, 3 sts at end of every row 10 times. There are 27 sts left unworked at end of each row. Then add sts back at end of every row, adding 3 sts at end of next 10 rows, 2 sts at end of next 6 rows, 1 st at end of next 12 rows - 111 sts. Bind off. Fold collar in half to inside and sew in place evenly. Using a damp cloth, press collar along fold line for a crisp edge.
