SIZES
Directions are for child’s 2. Changes for sizes 4, 6, and 8 are in parentheses.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Chest (buttoned) – 28-1/4(30-1/4-32-1/4-34-1/4)".
Length – 14(15-16-17)".

MATERIALS
BERROCO KOALA (100 grs) 5(6-7-8) balls #E379 Fire (MC), 1 ball #E334 Black (CC).
Straight knitting needles, size 9 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
Five 7/8" JHB buttons #32832.

GAUGE
10 sts = 4"; 19 rows = 4" in St st with size 9 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

BACK
With MC, cast on 37(39-41-43) sts. Work in k1, p1 rib for 4 rows, dec 1(1-0-0) st at end of last row. Continue in St st on remaining 36(38-41-43) sts until
piece measures 8-1/2(9-9-1/2-10)" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armhole: Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row twice. Work even on remaining 26(28-31-33) sts until armholes measure 5-1/2(6-6-1/2-7)". Bind off all sts loosely.

LEFT FRONT
With MC, cast on 21(23-23-25) sts. Work in k1, p1 rib for 4 rows, dec 1(1-0-1) st at end of last WS row.
Next Row (RS): Work 16(18-19-20) sts in St st, beg with p1, continue rib over last 4 sts. Continue in pat as established until same length as back to armhole. Shape armhole at side edge (beg of RS rows) same as back. Work even on remaining 15(17-18-19) sts until armhole measures 3-1/2(4-4-1/2-5)", end on RS.
Shape Neck: Next Row (WS): Bind off 3(4-4-5) sts (neck edge) , p to end. Continue to bind off from neck edge 2 sts twice. Work even on remaining 8(9-10-10) sts until same length as back. Bind off sts for shoulder. Place markers on front band for 5 buttons, the first one just above lower edge rib band, the last one -1/2" below first neck dec, and 3 others spaced evenly between.

RIGHT FRONT
Work to correspond to left front, reversing shaping and working buttonholes opposite markers as follows: At beg of a RS row, k1, k2tog, yo, work to end.

SLEEVES
With MC, cast on 19(19-21-21) sts. Work in k1, p1 rib for 4 rows, dec 1(1-1-0) st at end of last row. Continue in St st on 18(18-20-21) sts for 2 rows. Inc 1 st each side on next row, then every 8th(6th-6th-6th) row 3(4-4-5) times more. Work even on 26(28-30-33) sts until piece measures 8(8-1/2-9-9-1/2)" from beg.
Shape Cap: Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows, dec 1 st each side every other row 2(3-4-5) times, bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Bind off remaining 4(4-4-5) sts.

FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams.
Collar: With CC, cast on 8 sts and work in Reverse St st until one long side of piece fits around neck edge. Place sts on a holder or leave on needle. Sew one long edge of collar around neck, adjusting length if necessary. Bind off. Set in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew on buttons
