SIZES
Directions are for women’s size Small. Changes for sizes Medium, Large and X-Large are in parentheses.

 

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Bust – 40(44-48-54)".
Length – 22(22-1/2-23-23-1/2)".

 

MATERIALS
BERROCO COTTON TWIST (50 grs), 8(9-10-11) hanks #8371 Milanese Marble.
Straight knitting needles, sizes 6 and 8 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
16" length circular knitting needle, size 6.
2 St Holders.
1 St Marker.

 

GAUGE
17 sts = 4"; 19 rows = 4" in Wrap Pat on size 8 needles.
19 sts = 4"; 26 rows = 4" in St st on size 8 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

 

WRAP PAT
Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: Knit, wrapping yarn twice around needle for each st.
Row 4: Purl, dropping extra wraps.
Rep these 4 rows for Wrap Pat.

 

BACK
With smaller straight needles, cast on 95(103-111-125) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.
Row 2: P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 1" from beg, end on Row 1, decreasing 10 sts evenly spaced across – 85(93-101-115) sts. Change to larger needles and purl 1 row. Work even in Wrap Pat until piece measures 13" from beg, end on Row 4.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 3(3-3-5) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then work 2 rows even.
Row 5 (RS): Sl 1, k2 tog, psso, k to last 3 sts, k3 tog.
Rows 6, 7 and 8: Work even in Wrap Pat. Rep Rows 5-8 once more.
Row 13 (RS): Sl 1, k1, psso, k to last 2 sts, k2 tog – 69(77-85-95) sts. Work even in Wrap Pat until armholes measure 8(8-1/2-9-9-1/2)", end on Row 4. Discontinue Wrap Pat and work in St st.
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 7(8-9-10) sts, work until there are 14(16-19-22) sts on RH needle, sl center 27(29-29-31) sts onto holder, join another hank of yarn and work to end. Working both sides at once, bind off 7(8-9-10) sts at beg of the next 3 rows, then 6(7-9-11) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at each neck edge every RS row once.

 

FRONT
Work same as for back until armholes measure 6-1/2(7-7-1/2-8)", end on Row 4.
Note: Work decs on left side of neck as k3 tog. Work decs on right side of neck as sl 1, k2 tog, psso.
Shape Neck: Work 24(27-31-35) sts, sl center 21(23-23-25) sts onto holder, join another hank of yarn and work to end. Working both sides at once, dec 2 sts at each neck edge as in note every other RS row twice, working decs on Row 1 of Wrap Pat – 20(23-27-31) sts each side. Work even until armholes measure 8(8-1/2-9-9-1/2)", end on Row 4. Working in St st, bind off 7(8-9-10) sts at each armhole edge twice, then 6(7-9-11) sts once.

 

SLEEVES
With smaller straight needles, cast on 67(69-69-71) sts. Work in ribbing same as for back for 1", end on Row 1, decreasing 5 sts evenly spaced across – 62(64-64-66) sts. Change to larger needles and, beg with a p row, work in St st, inc 1 st each side every other row 3(5-9-11) times, then every 4th row 4(3-2-1) times – 76(80-86-90) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 5-1/2(5-1/2-6-6)" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 3(3-3-5) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side EVERY row 4(4-4-0) times, every RS row 5(5-5-6) times, then every other RS row 0(0-0-1) time, end on WS – 52(56-62-66) sts. Bind off all sts loosely.

 

FINISHING
Steam pieces lightly. Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at center back, k14(15-15-16) sts from back holder, pick up and k3 sts along left back neck edge, 14 sts along left front neck edge, k21(23-23-25) sts from front holder, pick up and k14 sts along right front neck edge, 3 sts along right back neck edge, then k remaining 13(14-14-15) sts from back holder – 82(86-86-90) sts. Mark for beg of round and carry marker up. Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 1". Bind off loosely in ribbing. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
