SIZES
Directions are for women’s size Small. Changes for sizes Medium, Large and X-Large are in parentheses.

 

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Bust – 38(42-46-52)".
Length (Including rolled edge) – 22(22-1/2-23-23-1/2)".
Note: When measuring length of this garment, flatten out rolled edge and measure from beg.

 

MATERIALS
BERROCO PRONTO (50 grs), 8(8-9-10) balls #4404 Chamois.
Straight knitting needles, sizes 10 and 10-1/2 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
16" length circular knitting needle, size 10-1/2.
Cable Needle (cn).
2 St Holders.

 

GAUGE
13 sts = 4"; 19 rows = 4" in St st.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

 

STITCH GLOSSARY
K2SP
K2 tog, then sl st back to LH needle, lift 2nd st on LH needle back over returned st and replace returned st on RH needle (2 sts dec’d).
RT3
Sl 1 st to cn and hold in BACK, k2, then k1 from cn.
LT3
Sl 2 sts to cn and hold in FRONT, k1, then k2 from cn.

 

BACK
With smaller straight needles, cast on 62(68-75-85) sts. Work even in St st for 1", end on WS. Change to larger needles and work even until piece measures 3-1/2" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Waist: Dec Row (RS): K2, SSK, k to last 4 sts, k2 tog, k2. Rep this dec every 2" twice more, end on WS – 56(62-69-79) sts. Piece should measure 7-/1/2" from beg. Work even for 1-1/2", end on WS.
Inc Row (RS): K2, M1k, k to last 2 sts, M1k, k2. Rep this inc every other RS row twice more – 62(68-75-85) sts. Work even in St st until piece measures 12-1/2" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 2(3-4-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then bind off 2(2-4-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows.
Row 5 (RS): K3, K2SP, k to last 6 sts, sl 1, k2 tog, psso, k3.
Rows 6 and 8: K1, p to last st, k1.
Row 7: Knit. Rep Rows 5-8 twice more, end on WS – 42(46-47-49) sts. Work even until armholes measure 51/2(6-6-1/2-7)", end on WS.
Diagonal Ridges: Row 1 (RS): K10(11-11-12), RT3, k16(18-19-19), LT3, k10-11-11-12).
Row 2: K1, p to last st, k1.
Row 3: K9(10-10-11), RT3, k18(20-21-21), LT3, k9(10-10-11). Continue in this manner to move ridges 1 st to the left and right every other row 5 times more, end on WS.
Shape Shoulders: Row 1 (RS): Bind off 2(3-3-4) sts, RT3, k30(32-33-33), LT3, k to end.
Row 2: Bind off 2(3-3-4) sts, p to end. Bind off 3(3-4-4) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 32(34-33-33) sts. Work even in St st for 6 rows, end on WS. Sl all sts onto holder for back neck.

 

FRONT
Work same as for back to shoulder shaping.
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Row 1 (RS): Bind off 2(3-3-4) sts, RT3, k9(9-10-10), sl center 12(14-13-13) sts onto holder, join another ball of yarn and k9(9-10-10), LT3, then k to end. Work both sides at once.
Row 2: Bind off 2(3-3-4) sts, p across, dec 1 st at each neck edge.
Row 3: Bind off 3(3-4-4) sts, k across, dec 1 st at each neck edge.
Row 4: Bind off 3(3-4-4) sts, p across, dec 1 st at each neck edge. Continue to work in St st and to dec 1 st at each neck edge EVERY row 6 times until 1 st remains on each side. Fasten off.

 

FINISHING
Steam pieces lightly. Sew shoulder and side seams.
Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at center back, k16(17-16-16) sts from back holder, pick up and k10 sts along left front neck edge, k12(14-13-13) sts from front holder, pick up and k10 sts along right front neck edge then k remaining 16(17-17-17) sts from back holder – 64(68-66-66) sts. Mark for beg of round and carry marker up. Work in Reverse St st (p EVERY round) for 1/2". Bind off all sts purlwise. Allowing edge to roll back at bottom, tack at each side seam.
