MATERIALS
BERROCO PRONTO (50 grs), 9(10-11-12) balls #4400 Bleach White.
Straight knitting needles, size 13 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
16" length circular knitting needle, size 8.
Cable Needle (cn).
2 St Markers.
GAUGE
11 sts = 4"; 15 rows = 4" in St st on size 13 needles.
20 sts = 6-1/2"; 15 rows = 4" in Cable Pat on size 13 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
CABLE PAT
Rows 1, 3, 5 and 9 (RS): P2 tog, yo, p3, k10, p2, k1, yo, k2 tog.
Row 2 and all WS rows: K1, yo, k2 tog, k2, p10, k2, p2 tog, yo, p1.
Row 7 (RS): P2 tog, yo, p3, sl next 4 sts to cn and hold in FRONT, k6, k4 from cn, p2, k1, yo, k2 tog.
Row 10: Rep Row 2.
Rep these 10 rows for Cable Pat.
BACK
With larger needles, cast on 58(64-70-76) sts.
Establish Cable Pat: Row 1 (RS): K19(22-25-28), place marker, work Row 1 of Cable Pat over next 20 sts, place marker, k to end.
Row 2: P to first marker, work Row 2 of Cable Pat to last marker, p to end. Work even in pat as established for 6 more rows, end on WS.
Dec Row (RS): K2, k2 tog, work to last 4 sts, SSK, k2. Rep this dec every 4th RS row twice more – 52(58-64-70) sts. Work even in pat as established until piece measures 13" from beg, end on WS.
Inc Row (RS): K2, M1k, work to last 2 sts, M1k, k2. Rep this inc every other RS row twice more – 58(64-70-76) sts. Work even in pat as established until piece measures 18" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 3 sts at beg of the next 2 rows.
Dec Row (RS): K2, sl next 2 sts to cn and hold in BACK, k1, k2 tog from cn, work to last 5 sts, sl next st to cn and hold in FRONT, SSK, k1 from cn, k2.
Next Row: K1, work to last st, k1. Rep these 2 rows twice more – 46(52-58-64) sts. Keeping 1 st each side in Garter St and remaining sts in pat as established, work even until armholes measure 7(7-1/2-8-8-1/2)", end on WS.
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 4(6-7-9) sts, work until there are 8(9-11-12) sts on RH needle, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 22 sts, dropping markers, work to end. Working both sides at once, bind off 4(6-7-9) sts at beg of the next row, then 4(5-7-8) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, bind off 4 sts at each neck edge once.
FRONT
Work same as for back.
FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at center back neck, pick up and k16 sts to left shoulder seam, 32 sts across front neck edge, then 16 sts across remaining back neck edge – 64 sts. Mark for beg of round and carry marker up. Purl 1 round. Knit 1 round. Bind off all sts purlwise. Sew side seams.
Armbands: With RS facing, using circular needle, pick up and k48(52-56-60) sts around entire armhole edge. Mark for beg of round and carry marker up. Purl 1 round. Knit 1 round. Bind off all sts purlwise
