Directions are for women’s size X Small. Changes for sizes Small, Medium, Large, X Large and XX Large are in parentheses.

 

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Bust (buttoned) – 36(39-43-47-51-55)".
Length – 20-1/2(21-21-1/2-22-23-23-1/2)".

 

MATERIALS
BERROCO LINET (50 grs) 9(10-11-12-13-14) hanks #3116 Beach Grass.
Straight knitting needles, size 7 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
Crochet hook, size 4.50mm (G).
6 1" BERROCO Buttons #A323 Fennel.

 

GAUGE
18-1/2 sts = 4"; 13 rows = 2" in Open Rib Granite St with size 7 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

 

LACE GARTER BORDER (even number of sts)
Rows 1-6: Purl.
Row 7 (RS): K1, *yo, k2tog; rep from * to last 3 sts, yo, k2tog, k1.
Row 8: P1, *yo, p2tog; rep from * to last 3 sts, yo, p2tog, p1.
Row 9: Rep row 7.
Row 10: Rep row 8.
Rep these 10 rows for Lace Garter Border.

 

OPEN RIB GRANITE STITCH (multiple of 7 sts plus 3)
Row 1 (RS): K3, *(yo, k2tog) twice, k3; rep from * to end.
Row 2: P3, *(yo, p2tog) twice, p3; rep from * to end.
Rep these 2 rows for Open Rib Granite St.

 

NOTE
When shaping in Pats, if there is not a yo to compensate for every dec, and vice versa, then omit dec or inc.

 

BACK
With size 7 needles, cast on 82(90-98-108-116-126) sts. Work in Lace Garter Border for 26 rows, dec 0(1-0-0-1-0) st at end of last row. Work in Open Rib Granite St on 82(89-98-108-115-126) sts as follows:
Row 1 (RS): K1(1-2-0-0-2), work pat over next 80(87-94-108-115-122) sts, k1(1-2-0-0-2). Continue in pats as established, keeping sts each side of pat in St st, until piece measures 13(13-13-13-13-1/2-13-1/2)" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armhole: Bind off 7(7-7-8-8-9) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Work even in pat on remaining 68(75-84-92-99-108) sts until armhole measures 7-1/2(8-8-1/2-9-9-1/2-10)", end on WS. Bind off all sts knitwise.

 

LEFT FRONT
With size 7 needles, cast on 40(46-50-54-60-64) sts. Work in Lace Garter Border for 26 rows, dec 0(1-1-0-0-1) st at end of last row. Work in Open Rib Granite St on 40(45-49-54-60-63) sts as follows:
Row 1 (RS): K1(0-2-1-0-2), work pat over next 38(45-45-52-59-59) sts, k1(0-2-1-1-2). Continue in pats as established, keeping sts each side of pat in St st until piece measures 13(13-13-13-13-1/2-13-1/2)" from beg, end on WS. Shape armhole at beg of RS rows same as back. Work even in pat on remaining 33(38-42-46-52-54) sts until armhole measures 5(5-1/2-6-6-1/2-7-7-1/2)", end on RS.
Shape Neck: Next Row (WS): Bind off 3(3-3-3-4-3) sts (neck edge), work to end. Continue to bind off from neck edge 3 sts 0(0-0-2-0) times, then 2 sts 6(7-7-7-5-7) times. Work even until same length as back. Bind off remaining 18(21-25-29-32-37) sts for shoulder.

 

RIGHT FRONT
Work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping.

 

SLEEVES
With size 7 needles, cast on 38(38-38-40-40-40) sts. Work in Lace Garter Border for 26 rows. Work in Open Rib Granite St as follows: k0(0-0-1-1-1), work next 38 sts in pat, k0(0-0-1-1-1), AT SAME TIME, work 2 rows even, then inc 1 st each side (working inc sts into pat) on next row, then every other row 0(0-0-1-5-8) times, every 4th row 5(9-15-20-18-17) times, then every 6th row 10(8-4-0-0-0) times. Work even on 70(74-78-84-88-92) sts until piece measures 18-1/2(19-19-19-19-1/2-19-1/2)" from beg, end on WS. Bind off all sts knitwise.

 

FINISHING
Steam pieces lightly. Sew shoulder seams. Sew top of sleeves to front and back armholes, sewing last 1-1/2(1-1/2-1-1/2-1-3/4-1-3/4-2)" at top of sleeve to bound-off armhole sts.
Left Frontband: With crochet hook, work 4 rows sc evenly along straight left front edge. Sew 6 buttons on band, with the first and last at 1/2" from each end and 4 others evenly spaced between.
Right Frontband: Work same as Left Frontband, but work buttonholes opposite markers on row 2 as follows: ch 4, sk 3 sc for each buttonhole.
With crochet hook, work 1 row sc evenly around neck, lower edge of body and sleeves.
