MATERIALS
BERROCO PRONTO (50 grs), 2 balls #4434 Black (A), 12 balls #4400 White (B) and 2 balls each #4409 Lolita Lime (C), #4440 Magenta (D) and #4803 Sunflower (E).
29" length circular knitting needles, sizes 9 and 10-1/2 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
GAUGE
13 sts = 4"; 20 rows = 4" in Stripe Pat on size 10-1/2 needles.
4 sts = 1"; 5 rows = 1" in Striped Rib on size 9 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
NOTE
Yarn not in use may be carried loosely up side of work.
STRIPED RIB
Row 1 (RS): With A, p1, * k1, p1, rep from * across.
Row 2: With B, k1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.
Row 3: With B, rep Row 1.
Rows 4 and 5: With A, rep Rows 2 and 3.
These 5 rows form Striped Rib.
STRIPE PAT
Rows 1 and 3 (RS): With B, knit.
Rows 2 and 4: With B, purl.
Rows 5 and 6: With C, knit.
Rows 7-10: Rep Rows 1-4.
Rows 11 and 12: With D, knit.
Rows 13-16: Rep Rows 1-4.
Rows 17 and 18: With E, knit.
Rep these 18 rows for Stripe Pat.
BLANKET
With smaller needle, using A, cast on 147 sts. Work 5 rows in Striped Rib, end on RS.
Next Row (WS): With A, bind off 4 sts, dec 25 sts evenly spaced across next 139 sts, bind off last 4 sts – 114 sts. Change to larger needle, join B and work even in Stripe Pat until piece measures approximately 45" from beg, end on Row 4 of Stripe Pat. Change to smaller needle and A.
Next Row (RS): Using A, cast on 4 sts, work as for Row 2 of Striped Rib, inc 25 sts evenly spaced across next 114 sts, then cast on 4 sts at end – 147 sts. Working in ribbing as established, work 1 more row A, 2 rows B, then 1 row A, end on RS. Bind off all sts in ribbing with A.
FINISHING
Sidebands: With RS facing, using smaller needles and A, pick up and k175 sts evenly spaced along side edge of blanket between sts cast-on and bound-off at each end. Work Rows 5-1 of Striped Rib, end on RS. Bind off all sts in ribbing with A. Work same for other side edge of blanket. Sew ends of sidebands to cast-on and bound-off sts. Steam blanket lightly.
