SIZES
Directions are for women’s size X-Small. Changes for sizes Small, Medium, Large and X-Large are in parentheses.

 

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Bust – 40(44-48-50-54)”.
Length – 15(15-15-1/2-16-16-1/2)”.
Note: This garment is designed to flare at bottom, so check shoulder measurement and top sleeve width when selecting your size.

 

MATERIALS
BERROCO FURZ (50 grs), 12(12-13-14-15) balls #3864 Crystal Gray.
Straight knitting needles, size 13 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
3 3/8” metal snaps from Dritz.

 

GAUGE
3 sts = 1”; 4 rows = 1” in St st with 2 strands of Furz worked tog.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

 

NOTE 1
2 strands of Furz are worked tog throughout this garment.

NOTE 2
The number of sts bound off for shoulders on back and fronts is not the same, however due to the difference in the slope of the shoulders, they should be very close to the same measurement.

 

BACK
With size 13 needles, using 2 strands of yarn held tog, cast on 72(78-84-90-96) sts. P 3 rows. Beg with a k row, work in St st, dec 1 st each side of next row. Dec 1 st each side of every RS row 5(5-4-3-2) times more, then every other RS row 7(7-8-9-10) times, end on WS – 46(52-58-64-70) sts. Piece should measure 10-1/2(10-1/2-11-11-1/2-12)” from beg.
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 4(5-6-7-8) sts at beg of the next 2 rows.
Next Row (RS): Bind off 5(6-7-8-9) sts, work until there are 10(11-12-13-14) sts on RH needle, join another double strand of yarn and bind off center 8 sts, k to end. Bind off 5(6-7-8-9) sts at beg of the next 3 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, bind off 5 sts at each neck edge once.

 

LEFT FRONT
With size 13 needles, using 2 strands of yarn held tog, cast on 30(33-36-39-42) sts. P 3 rows. K 1 row.
Next Row (WS): K2, p to end. Keeping 2 sts at left side of front in Garter St for frontband and remaining sts in St st, work even until piece measures 11-1/2(11-1/2-12-12-1/2-13)” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Shoulder: Bind off 2(2-3-3-5) sts at beg of the next row. Bind off 2(2-3-3-3)sts at beg of each RS row 3(6-2-5-5) times more, then bind off 1(0-2-2-3) sts 3(0-4-1-1) times. AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 13(13-13-1/2-14-14-1/2)” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Neck: Work to last 12 sts, join another double strand of yarn and bind off next 6 sts, work to end. Turn, bind off remaining 6 sts at front edge. Working over remaining group of sts, continue to work shoulder bind-offs and AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at neck edge EVERY row 7 times.

 

RIGHT FRONT
Work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping.

 

SLEEVES
With size 13 needles, using 2 strands of yarn held tog, cast on 24(26-28-30-32) sts. P 3 rows. Beg with a k row, work in St st, inc 1 st each side of every 4th row 3(0-5-7-12) times, then every 6th row 9(11-7-5-1) times – 48(48-52-54-58) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 18(18-17-16-15)” from beg, end on WS. Bind off all sts.

 

FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams. Measure down 8(8-8-1/2-9-9-1/2)” from shoulder seams on back and fronts and mark for armholes. Sew in bound-off edges of sleeves between markers. Sew side and sleeve seams.
Neck Edging: With size 13 needles, using 2 strands of yarn held tog, beg at right front neck edge, pick up and k20 sts along right front neck edge, 20 sts across back neck edge and 20 sts along left front neck edge – 60 sts. Knit 2 rows. Bind off all sts.
Note: Place snaps carefully as this enables fronts to swing correctly.
Sew half of 1st snap to front corner of neckband on WS of right front. Sew half of 2nd and 3rd snaps to neckband so that there is 1-1/4” between each snap. Sew the other half of 3rd snap to front corner of neckband on RS of left front. Sew the other half of 2nd snap to left front 1-1/4” diagonally in from previous snap and 1” down from neckband. Sew the other half of 1st snap to left front 1-1/4” diagonally in from previous snap and 2” down from neck edge.
