MATERIALS
BERROCO MOHAIR CLASSIC (43 grs), 6(7-7) balls #A7743 (A).
BERROCO CHINCHILLA (50 grs), 6(7-8) balls #5101 Vanilla (B).
Straight knitting needles, sizes 10 and 10-1/2 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
29” length circular knitting needle, size 10-1/2.
Crochet hook, size 5.50 mm (I).
GAUGE
3 sts = 1”; 9 rows = 2” in Stripe Pat on size 10-1/2 needles.
7 sts = 2”; 10 rows = 2” in St st on size 10 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
NOTE
The body of this garment is worked side to side.
STRIPE PAT
Row 1 (RS): With 1 strand each of A and B worked tog, k63(69-75), p18(20-21).
Row 2: With 1 strand each of A and B worked tog, k18(20-21), p63(69-75).
Rows 3 and 5: With 1 strand of B, k63(69-75), p18(20-21).
Rows 4 and 6: With 1 strand of B, k18(20-21), p63(69-75).
Rows 7 and 8: Rep Rows 1 and 2.
Rows 9, 11 and 13: With 1 strand of A, k63(69-75), p18(20-21).
Rows 10, 12 and 14: With 1 strand of A, k18(20-21), p63(69-75).
Rep these 14 rows for Stripe Pat.
BODY
With circular needle, using 1 strand each of A and B held tog, cast on 81(89-96) sts. (This will be the left front edge.)
Row 1 (RS): K63(69-75), place marker, p18(20-21). Beg with Row 2, work even in Stripe Pat until piece measures 15(16-17)” from beg, end on Row 12(2-6).
Shape Left Armhole: Next Row (RS): Working in Stripe Pat, work 24(27-30) sts, loosely bind off the next 24(27-30) sts, work to end. On the next row, cast on 24(27-30) sts over sts bound off on previous row. Continue to work even in Stripe Pat until piece measures 32(34-36)” from beg, end on Row 4(14-8).
Shape Right Armhole: Work same as for left armhole. Continue to work even in Stripe Pat until piece measures 47(50-53)” from beg, end on Row 2. Using A and B held tog, bind off all sts.
SLEEVES
With straight needles, using 1 strand each of A and B held tog, cast on 30 sts. Work in Stripe Pat, inc 1 st each side every 6th row 0(3-7) times, every 8th row 4(8-5) times, then every 10th row 5(0-0) times – 48(52-54) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 19” from beg, end on WS. Bind off all sts loosely.
COLLAR FACING
With size 10 needles, using A, cast on 21(23-25) sts. Work even in St st until piece measures 47(50-53)” from beg, end on WS. Bind off all sts.
FINISHING
Pin collar facing to Reverse St st edge of body with wrong sides tog. Slip st around 4 sides. (This facing will fold back to WS.)
Body Edging: With RS facing, using crochet hook and 1 strand each of A and B held tog, join yarn in 1 corner of body and work in sc around all 4 sides, working 3 sc’s in each corner. Note: Work through double thickness along collar edge. Join with a sl st in first sc. Fasten off. Sew sleeve seams. Sew bound-off edges of sleeves into armhole slits with seams at lower edges.
