Straight knitting needles, size 8 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
16” length circular knitting needle, size 8.
1 St Marker.

STITCH GLOSSARY
KSP
K1, then sl st back to LH needle, lift 2nd st on LH needle back over returned st and replace returned st on RH needle (1 st dec’d).
K2SP
K2 tog, then sl st back to LH needle, lift 2nd st on LH needle back over returned st and replace returned st on RH needle (2 sts dec’d).
RIB PAT
Row 1 (RS): K4, * p2, k4, rep from * across.
Row 2: Purl.
Rep these 2 rows for Rib Pat.
BACK
With straight needles, cast on 94(106-112-124-136) sts. Purl 3 rows. Beg with a k row, work even in St st until piece measures 3-1/2” from beg, end on WS. Work in Rib Pat for 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of the next row. Work in pat as established until piece measures 8” from beg, then work all sts in St st. AT THE SAME TIME, continue to dec 1 st at each side every 2-1/2(2-2-1/2-2-2-1/2)” 3(4-3-4-3) times more. Work even on 86(96-104-114-128) sts until piece measures 12-1/2” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Row 1 (RS): K2, KSP, k to last 4 sts, sl 1, k1, psso, k2. Rep this dec every RS row 0(1-0-3-9) times more, then every other RS row 6(6-6-5-2) times. Work even on 72(80-90-96-104) sts until armholes measure 8(8-1/2-9-9-1/2-10)”, end on WS.
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 4(6-7-8-10) sts at beg of the next 2 rows.
Next Row (RS): Bind off 4(5-7-8-9) sts, k until there are 5(6-8-9-10) sts on needle, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 46 sts, k to end. Working both sides at once, bind off 4(5-7-8-9) sts at beg of the next 3 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at each neck edge on WS row once.
FRONT
Work same as for back until armholes measure 8(8-1/2-9-9-1/2-10)”, end on WS.
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 4(6-7-8-10) sts, k until there are 10(12-16-18-20) sts on needle, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 44 sts, k to end. Working both sides at once, bind off 4(6-7-8-10) sts at beg of the next row, then 4(5-7-8-9) sts at beg of the next 4 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at each neck edge every WS row twice.
SLEEVES
With straight needles, cast on 38(38-40-40-42) sts. Purl 3 rows. Beg with a k row, work even in St st until sleeve measures 1” from beg, end on WS. Inc 1 st each side of next row, then every 4th row 0(0-0-1-5) times, every 6th row 0(0-8-16-13) times, every 8th row 0(10-7-0-0) times, every 10th row 9(3-0-0-0) times, then every 12th row 2(0-0-0-0) times. Work even on 62(66-72-76-80) sts until sleeve measures 19-1/2(19-18-17-1/2-17)” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: For sizes X-Small, Small and Medium ONLY: Row 1 (RS): K2, K2SP, k to last 5 sts, sl 1, k2 tog, psso, k2.
Row 2: P2, p3 tog, p to last 5 sts, p3 tog TBL, p2.
For ALL sizes: Row 3 (RS): K2, KSP, k to last 4 sts, sl 1, k1, psso, k2.
Row 4: P2, p2 tog, p to last 4 sts, p2 tog TBL, p2. Rep these 2 rows 3(3-3-4-3) times more, then rep Row 3 every RS row 0(0-0-2-4) times, end on WS. Bind off remaining 38(42-48-52-56) sts.
FINISHING
Block pieces to measurements with hot steam iron and pressing cloth. Sew shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves and sew side and sleeve seams.
Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at center back neck, pick up and k25 sts to left shoulder seam, 52 sts along front neck edge to right shoulder seam and 25 sts to end – 102 sts. Mark for beg of round and carry marker up. Purl 1 round, then bind off all sts knitwise.
