Yarn used ...

A trapeze tank in Cotton Twist with ribbed yoke and crocheted shoulder straps embellished with optional silver pailettes.

 

Shown in size Small.

 

SIZES
Directions are for women’s size X-Small.  Changes for sizes Small, Medium, Large, X-Large and XX-Large are in parentheses.

 

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Bust – 33(35-39-44-48-54)”.
Length – 16-1/2(17-17-1/2-18-18-1/2-19)” (Not including straps).

 

MATERIALS
BERROCO COTTTON TWIST (50 grs), 6(7-8-9-10-11) hanks #8322 Fern.
Straight knitting needles, sizes 6 and 8 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
Crochet hook, size 4.00 mm (F).
1 pkg of 120  20 mm silver paillettes (Optional).

 

GAUGE
19 sts = 4”; 26 rows = 4” in St st on size 8 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
Note:  Block swatch with hot steam iron, then check gauge.

 

STITCH GLOSSARY
KSP
K1, then sl st back to LH needle, lift 2nd st on LH needle back over returned st and replace returned st on RH needle (1 st dec’d).
K2SP
K2 tog, then sl st back to LH needle, lift 2nd st on LH needle back over returned st and replace returned st on RH needle (2 sts dec’d).

 

BACK
With larger needles, cast on 88(92-102-114-124-138) sts.  Work even in St st for 1-1/2”, end on WS.
Dec Row:  K1, SSK, k to last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1.  Rep this dec every 2-1/4” 4 times more, then work even on 78(82-92-104-114-128) sts until piece measures 11” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes:  For sizes X-Small and Small ONLY:  Row 1 (RS):  K2, K2SP, k to last 5 sts, sl 1, k2 tog, psso, k2.
Row 2:  Purl.  Rep these 2 rows 3(2) times more, end on WS.
For ALL sizes:  Next Row (RS):  K2, KSP, k to last 4 sts, sl 1, k1, psso, k2.  Rep this dec every RS row 5(7-11-9-10-6) times more, then every other RS row 0(0-1-3-3-6) times, end on WS – 50(54-66-78-86-102) sts.  Change to smaller needles.
Row 1 (RS):  K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across.
Row 2:  P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across.  Rep these 2 rows until ribbing measures 2-1/2”, end on WS.  [Armholes should measure approximately 5-1/2(6-6-1/2-7-7-1/2-8)” from beg.]  Bind off all sts in ribbing.

 

FRONT
Work same as for back.

 

FINISHING
Block pieces to measurements with hot steam iron and pressing cloth.  Sew side seams.
Left Shoulder Strap and Edging:  With RS facing, join yarn at left side seam and work in sc along front armhole edge to top of ribbing, ch for 6”, work in sc along back armhole edge to left side seam.  Join with a sl st in first sc.  DO NOT turn.  Ch 1, work 1 sc in each sc and ch around.  Join with a sl st in first sc.  Fasten off.  With RS facing, join yarn at top of back ribbing and work 1 sc in the other side of each ch to front ribbing.  Fasten off.
Right Shoulder Strap and Edging:  With RS facing, join yarn at right side seam and work in sc along back armhole edge to top of ribbing.  Complete to correspond to left side.
Bottom Edging:  With RS facing, join yarn at left side seam and work 1 row sc around entire lower edge.  Join with a sl st in first sc.  DO NOT turn.  Ch 1, work 1 sc in each sc around.  Join with a sl st in first sc.  Fasten off.
Optional:  Sew paillettes spaced 1” apart over entire front as shown in photo.
