SIZE
Scarf – 5 3/4" wide x 50" long
(Not including fringe).
Hat – 18" circumference x 7" long.
MATERIALS
BERROCO DUO (50 grs), 4 balls #3201 Naturale
for Scarf.
1 ball each #3201 Naturale (A) and #3225 Bruno (B) for Hat.
Straight knitting needles, size 11 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
Crochet hook, size 6.00 mm (J).
GAUGE
14 sts = 4"; 16 rows = 4" in k1, p1 ribbing on size 11 needles.
12 sc’s = 4"; 12 rows = 4" in sc with size 6.00 mm crochet
hook.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
SCARF
With straight needles, cast on 21 sts.
Row 1 (RS): K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.
Row 2: P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until
piece measures 50" from beg, end on WS. Bind off all sts in ribbing.
Fringe: Cut one 15" long
strand of yarn and fold in half. With crochet hook, craw center of strand
through first row on right edge of scarf forming a lp. Pull ends of fringe
through this lp. In this manner, make fringe in every row along entire
right edge of scarf. Trim fringe to even off if necessary.
Note: For speedier cutting,
wrap yarn multiple times around a piece of cardboard that is the desired
finished length of the fringe. Cut the lower edge to free wrapped strands.
HAT
With crochet hook, using A, ch 5, join with a sl st to form a ring. Ch
1, work 7 sc’s in ring, join with a sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, work 2 sc’s in each sc around, join with a sl
st in first sc – 14 sc’s
Rnd 3: Ch 1, * sc in next sc, 2 sc’s in next sc, rep from
* around, join with a sl st in first sc – 21 sc’s.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, * sc in next 2 sc’s, 2 sc’s in next sc,
rep from * around, join with a sl st in first sc – 28 sc’s.
Row 5: Ch 1, * sc in next 3 sc’s, 2 sc’s in next sc,
rep from * around, end 3 sc’s in last sc instead of 2, join with
a sl st in first sc – 36 sc’s.
Row 6: Ch 3, skip next sc, * dc in next sc, ch 1, skip next sc,
rep from * around, join with a sl st in 2nd st of ch – 18 ch-1 spaces.
Row 7: Sl st into next ch-1 sp, ch 2, dc in same ch-1 sp, ch 1,
* 2 dc’s in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, rep from * around, join with a sl
st in ch-2 – 18 ch-1 spaces and 36 dc’s.
Rnd 8: Ch 1, sc in each dc and ch-1 sp around, join with a sl st
in first sc – 54 sc’s.
Rnd 9: Ch 2, dc in next sc, ch 1, skip next sc, * dc in next 2
sc’s, ch 1, skip next sc, rep from * around, join with a sl st in
top of ch-2 – 18 ch-1 spaces and 36 dc’s.
Rnd 10: Rep Rnd 8. Change from A to B.
Rnd 11: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in first
sc.
Rnd 12: Rep Rnd 9.
Rnd 13: Rep Rnd 8.
Rnds 14 – 16: Rep Rnd 11.
Rnds 17-21: Rep Rnds 12-16. If necessary, rep Rnd 11 until hat
is desired length. Fasten off.
