BACK
With smaller straight needles, cast on 126(138-
150-162-174-186) sts.
Ribbing: Row 1 (RS): K2, * p2, k2, rep from *
across.
Row 2: P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across. Rep
these 2 rows until piece measures 2” from beg,
end on RS. Change to larger needles and p the
next row, dec 26(28-28-30-30-32) sts across –
100(110-122-132-144-154) sts.
Establish Pat St: Row 1 (RS): K20(22-25-28-
31-33), place marker, * (k in front, back, then
front of next st) 8 times *, place marker, k44(50-
56-60-66-72), place marker, rep between *’s
once more, place marker, k20(22-25-28-31-33)
– 132(142-154-164-176-186) sts.
Row 2: P to first marker, k to next marker, p to
next marker, k to last marker, p to end.
Row 3: K to first marker, p to next marker, k to
next marker, p to last marker, k to end.
Row 4: Purl, dropping markers. From here,
work all sts in St st. When piece measures 4”
from beg, end on WS.
Dec Row (RS): K1, k2 tog, k to last 3 sts, SSK, k1
– 130(140-152-162-174-184) sts. Rep this dec
every ¾” 15 times more – 100(110-122-132-
144-154) sts. Work even until piece measures
19” from beg, end on WS. Mark beg and end of
last row for beg of armholes.
Note: When decreasing for armholes, dec 2 sts
at beg and end of rows by either knitting 3 sts
tog on RS rows or purling 3 sts tog on WS rows.
To dec 1 st, knit 2 sts tog on RS rows and purl 2
sts tog on WS rows.
Shape Raglan Armholes: Dec 2 sts each side
EVERY row 25(10-12-13-17-18)(5-8-8-11-11
times, then dec 1 st each side EVERY row 23(21-
20-24-23-2721(16-18-21-19-22) times, end on
WS – 38 sts. Mark beg and end of last row. Inc
1 st each side every 1” 3 times, end on WS – 44
sts. Work even until piece measures 4” above
markers, end on WS. Bind off for back neck.
LEFT FRONT
With smaller straight needles, cast on 454(62-70-74-82-90) sts. Work in ribbing same as back
for 2”, end on RS. Change to larger needles and
p the next row, dec 610(12-14-14-16-18) sts
across – 44(50-56-60-66-72) sts.
Establish Pat St: Row 1 (RS): K20(22-25-28-
31-33), place marker, (k in front, back then front
of next st) 8 times, place marker, k16(20-23-24-
27-31) – 60(66-72-76-82-88) sts.
Row 2: P to first marker, k to last marker, p to
end.
Row 3: K to first marker, p to last marker, k to
end.
Row 4: Purl, dropping markers. Work from
here in St st. When piece measures 4” from
beg, end on WS.
Dec Row (RS): K1, k2 tog, k to end – 59(65-71-
75-81-87) sts. Rep this dec every ¾” 15 times
more. AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures
15” from beg, end on WS.
Shape V-Neck: Continuing to work side decs,
work to last 3 sts, SSK, k1. Rep this dec every
½(½-½-¾-¾-¾)” 11(12-12-11-11-12) times more.
When piece measures 19” from beg, end on WS.
Mark end of last row for beg of armhole.
Shape Raglan Armhole: Dec 2 sts at armhole edge EVERY row 5(10-12-13-17-18) times, then
dec 1 st at armhole edge EVERY row 21(16-18-
21-19-22) times, end on WS. When all armhole
and neck decs have been completed, fasten off
last st. Mark last st.
RIGHT FRONT
Work to correspond to left front, reversing all
shaping and placement of pat st. Work side
decs at end of RS rows as SSK, k1. Work neck
decs at beg of RS rows as k1, k2 tog. Work armhole
decs at end of RS rows.
SLEEVES
With larger needles, cast on 100(100-106-106-
111-111) sts. Work even in St st for 1”, end on
WS. Mark beg and end of last row for end of
sleeve seam. Work even in St st until piece measures
6(7-8-9-10-11)” from beg, end on WS.
Establish Pat St: Row 1 (RS): K8(8-8-8-6-6),
place marker, k3 tog 28(28-30-30-33-33) times,
place marker k8(8-8-8-6-6) – 44(44-46-46-45-
45) sts.
Row 2: P to first marker, k to last marker, p to
end.
Row 3: K to first marker, p to last marker, k to
end.
Row 4: Purl.
Row 5 (RS): K to first marker, * k in front, back
then front of next st, rep from * to last marker,
k to end – 100(100-106-106-111-111) sts. Beg
with a p row, work in St st for 7 rows, end on
WS. Rep Rows 1 – 4 once more, end on WS.
Bind off remaining 44(44-46-46-45-45) sts.
FINISHING
Sew side edges of sleeves to raglan sleeve caps
between markers. Sew back half of bound-off
row on sleeves to side edges of the 4” section
of back armholes above markers. (The rest
of the bound-off row of sleeves is part of the neck edge as on raglan sleeves.) Sew side and
sleeve seams.
Left Front/Neckband: With RS facing, using
circular needle, beg at center of back neck,
pick up and k20 sts along back neck edge to
sleeve, 22 sts across bound-off edge of sleeve,
54(54-58-58-62-66) sts along left front neck
edge to beg of neck shaping, then 98 sts down
left front edge – 194(194-198-198-202-206) sts.
Beg with Row 2, work in ribbing same as back
for 1¼”, end on WS. Bind off in ribbing.
Right Front/Neckband: Beg at lower right
front edge, work to correspond to left front/
neckband until band measures ½”, end on WS.
Buttonhole Row (RS): Work 4 sts, yo, work 2
tog, * work 26 sts, yo, work 2 tog, rep from * twice more, work to end. Complete to correspond to
left front/neckband. Sew edges of neckbands
tog at center back neck. Sew on buttons.
