STITCH GLOSSARY

2 sc tog

Pull up a loop in the next 2 sts, yo and pull through all 3 loops on hook (1 sc dec’d)

2 dc tog

* Yo, pull up a loop in next st, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook, rep from * once more, yo and pull through all 3 loops on hook (1 dc dec’d)

3 dc tog

* Yo, pull up a loop in next st, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook, rep from * once more, yo and pull through all 4 loops on hook (2 dc’s dec’d)

 

BACK

With crochet hook, using MC, ch 69(76-83-91).

Row 1 (RS):  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 68(75-82-90) sc’s.  Turn.

Row 2 (WS):  Ch 3, dc in front loop of each sc across – 68(75-82-90) dc’s.  Turn.

Row 3:  Ch 1, sc in each dc across.  Turn.  Rep Rows 2 and 3 for Pat St until piece measures 16 1/2” from beg, end on WS.  Turn.

Shape Armholes:  Row 1 (RS):  Sl st in first 5 dc’s, ch 1, sc in each sc across to last 5 dc’s – 58(65-72-80) sc’s.  Turn.

Row 2:  Ch 3, 2 dc tog, work to last 3 sc’s, 2 dc tog, dc in last sc – 56(63-70-78) dc’s.  Turn.

Row 3:  Ch 1, sc in each dc across.  Turn.  Rep Row 2 once more – 54(61-68-76) dc’s.  Turn.  Work even in Pat St until armholes measure 7(7 1/2-8-8 1/2)”, end on RS.  Turn.

Shape Shoulders:  Next Row (WS):  Sl st in first 5(6-6-7) sc’s, ch 1, sc in next 5(6-7-7) sc’s, hdc in next 6(6-7-8) sc’s, dc in next 22(25-28-32) sc’s, hdc in next 6(6-7-8) sc’s, sc in next 5(6-7-7) sc’s.  Fasten off.

 

LEFT FRONT

With crochet hook, using MC, ch 46(50-54-58).

Row 1 (RS):  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 45(49-53-57) sc’s.  Work in Pat St same as back until piece measures 16 1/2”, end on WS.  Turn.

Shape Armhole:  Row 1 (RS):  Sl st in first 5 dc’s, ch 1, sc in each sc to end – 40(44-48-52) sc’s.  Turn.

Row 2:  Ch 3, work to last 3 sc’s, 2 dc tog, dc in last sc – 39(43-47-51) dc’s.  Turn.  Work 1 row even.  Rep Row 2 once more – 38(42-46-50) sc’s.  Work even in Pat St until armhole measures 5(5 1/2-6-6 1/2)”, end on WS.

Shape Neck:  Row 1 (RS):  Ch 1, sc in next 20(22-24-26) dc’s.  Turn.

Row 2:  Ch 3, 2 dc tog, dc in each sc to end – 19(21-23-25) dc’s.  Turn.

Row 3:  Ch 1, sc to last 3 dc’s, 2 sc tog, sc in last dc – 18(20-22-24) sc’s.  Rep Rows 2 and 3 once more – 16(18-20-22) sc’s.  Turn.  Work even in Pat St until armholes measure 7(7 1/2-8-8 1/2)”, end on RS.  Turn.

RIGHT FRONT

Work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping.

 

SLEEVES

With crochet hook, using MC, ch 35(37-39-41).

Row 1 (RS):  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each sc across – 34(36-38-40) sc’s.  Turn.  Work even in Pat St until sleeve measures 1” from beg, end on WS.  Inc 1 st each end of next row, then every 3(3-2 1/2-2 1/2)” 5(5-6-6) times more, working incs into Pat St – 46(48-52-54) sts.  Work even until sleeve measures 18” from beg, end on WS.  Turn.

Shape Cap:  Row 1 (RS):  Sl st over first 5 dc’s, ch 1, sc in each dc across to last 5 dc’s – 36(38-42-44) sc’s.  Turn.

Row 2:  Ch 3, 3 dc tog, dc to last 4 sc’s, 3 dc tog, dc in last sc – 32(34-38-40) dc’s.  Turn.

Row 3:  Work even.  Rep the last 2 rows 4 times more, then rep Row 2 once more, end on WS – 12(14-18-20) dc’s.  Turn.

Last Row (RS):  Ch 1, 2 sc tog, sc to last 3 dc’s, 2 sc tog, sc in last dc.  Fasten off.

 

FINISHING

Sew shoulder seams.  Sew in sleeves.  Sew side and sleeve seams.

Edging:  Rnd 1: With RS facing, using crochet hook, join MC at right shoulder seam, ch 1, work in sc across back neck and along left front neck edge;  work 1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc in corner sp;  work in sc down left front edge working 1 sc in each sc row and 2 sc’s in each dc row;  work 1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc in corner sp;  work in sc along lower edge;  work 1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc in corner sp; work in sc up right front edge in same manner as left front edge;  work 1 sc, ch 1, 1 sc in corner sp; work in sc along right front neck edge, join with a sl st in first sc.  Turn.

Rnd 2:  With WS facing, ch 1, work 1 sc in each sc and ch-1 sp around, join with a sl st in first sc.  Fasten off.

Sleeve Edging:  Rnd 1:  With RS facing, using crochet hook, join MC at sleeve seam, ch 1, work in sc around lower edge of sleeve, join with a sl st in first sc.  Turn.

Rnd 2:  With WS facing, ch 1, work 1 sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in first sc.  Fasten off.

 

BELT

First Flower:  With crochet hook, using CC, ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 1:  Ch 1, (sc into ring, ch 3) 6 times, join with a sl st in 1st sc – 6 ch-3 spaces.

Rnd 2:  Ch 1, (1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) in each ch-3 space, join with a sl st in 1st sc – 6 petals made.

Rnd 3:  Ch 2, * 1 sc in back of petal of row below, ch 5, rep from * 5 times more, join with a sl st in 1st sc – 6 ch-5 spaces.

Rnd 4:  Ch 1, (1 sc, 1 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) in each ch-5 space, join with a sl st in 1st sc – 6 more petals made.

Rnd 5:  Rep Rnd 3.

Rnd 6:  Ch 1, (1 sc, 1 hdc, 5 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) in each ch-5 space, join with a sl st in 1st sc.  Fasten off.

Second Flower:  Work same as first flower until Rnd 5 has been completed.

Rnd 6 (Joining Rnd):  Ch 1, (1 sc, 1 hdc, 5 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) in 1st ch-5 space, * (1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 dc) in next ch-5 space, holding WS of 2 flowers tog, sl st in space between 2nd and 3rd dc of petal on first flower, dc in same ch-5 space of second flower, sl st in space between 3rd and 4th dc of same petal on first flower, (2 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) in same ch-5 space of second flower, rep from * once more, complete rest of Rnd 6 same as first flower.  Fasten off.  Repeat second flower until belt is desired length (ours is 12 flowers long).
