Shown in size Small SIZES FINISHED MEASUREMENTS MATERIALS GAUGE NOTE Front of garment is worked from side to side. Sts for back are picked up along side edges of front and worked down. ROMAN STRIPE PATTERN (Even number of sts) Row 1: K1, * yo, k1, rep from * to last st, end k1. Row 2: K1, purl to last st, end k1. Row 3: K1, * k2 tog, rep from * to last st, end k1. Rows 4 and 5: K1, * yo, k2 tog, rep from * to last st, end k1. Rows 6 and 7: Knit. Rep these 7 rows for Roman Stripe Pat. Note: Due to the odd number of rows in this pat st, the RS will change from repeat to repeat and the stitch is completely reversible. FRONT With straight needles, cast on 24(28-32) sts. Work even in Roman Stripe Pat for 12”. Mark end of last row for beg of RS rows. Cast on 32(36-40) sts at end of the next row – 56(64-72) sts. Work even in Roman Stripe Pat until piece measures 39(41-43)” from beg, end on WS. Bind off 32(36-40) sts at beg of the next RS row – 24(28-32) sts. Work even until piece measures 12” above bound-off sts. Bind off. Measure in 16½” from cast-on and bound-off edges at outer edges of front and mark as A and B (see schematic). BACK With circular needle, beg at cast-on edge and pick up and k66(70-74) sts to point A; cast on 32 sts for back neck; fold front, bringing point B to top and pick up and k66(70-74) sts from point B to bound-off edge – 164(172-180) sts. Next Row (WS): K1, p to last st, k1. Beg with Row 1, work even in Roman Stripe Pat for 6(7-8)”. Bind off 48 sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 68(76-84) sts. Continue to work even in Roman Stripe Pat for approximately 1”, end on Row 6 of pat. Dec Row: K1, k2 tog, k to last 3 sts, SSK, k1 – 66(74-82) sts. Rep this dec every 2(2¼-2½)” 3 times more – 60(68-76) sts. Work even until piece measures 8(9-10)” above picked-up sts. Bind off. FINISHING Sew side and sleeve seams. Gather center of lower back edge forming small pleats as shown in photo. Sew lower edge together to hold in place.
