Foliage

Finoccio is a chunky double stranded duet knit in Foliage. The scarf is knit by casting on the entire length of the scarf and working for only 6 ½” before binding off.

MATERIALS

4 balls BERROCO FOLIAGE (50 grs), #5981 Cinnabar (A) for Scarf

2 balls BERROCO FOLIAGE (50 grs), #5954 Joshua Tree (B) for Hat

29” Length circular knitting needle, size 17 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Straight knitting needles, size 17

Cable needle (cn)

GAUGE

7 sts = 4”;  12 rows = 4” in St st with 2 strands of yarn held tog on size 17 needles

TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

NOTE

Both scarf and hat are worked with 2 strands of yarn held tog throughout.

SCARF

With circular needle, using 2 strands of A held tog, cast on 120 sts.  DO NOT join.

Rows 1-4:  Purl.

Row 5 (RS):  Knit.

Row 6:  Purl.  Rep these 6 rows twice more.  Purl 2 rows.  Bind off all sts purlwise.

STITCH GLOSSARY

CB6

Sl 3 sts to cn and hold in BACK, k3, then k3 from cn.

HAT

With straight needles, using 2 strands of B held tog, cast on 43 sts.

Row 1 (RS):  K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.

Row 2:  P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across.  Rep Row 1 once more, end on RS.

Inc Row (WS):  K1, p1, * k2, p2, M1p, p3, k2, (p1, k1) twice, p1, rep from * once more, k2, p2, M1p, p3, k2, (p1, k1) twice – 46 sts.

Establish Cable Pat:  Row 1 (RS):  P1, k1, * p2, k6, p2, (k1, p1) twice, k1, rep from * once more, p2, k6, p2, (k1, p1) twice.

Row 2 and all WS rows:  K the k sts and p the p sts as they face you.

Row 3:  P1, k1, * p2, CB6, p2, (k1, p1) twice, k1, rep from * once more, p2, CB6, p2, (k1, p1) twice.

Row 5:  Rep Row 1.

Row 6:  Rep Row 2.

Rep these 6 rows until piece measures 6 1/2” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Top:  Dec Row 1 (RS):  K1, * k2 tog, rep from * to last st, k1 – 24 sts.

Row 2:  Purl.

Row 3:  * K2 tog, rep from * across – 12 sts.

Row 4:  * P2 tog, rep from * across – 6 sts.  Cut yarn leaving a 15” long end for sewing.  Draw end through all sts on needle and pull up tightly.  Fasten securely, then sew back seam.
