Rnd 4: Ch 1, * sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around, join with a sl st in beg ch-1 – 24 sc. Rnd 5: Rep Rnd 3. Rnd 6: Rep Rnd 4 – 36 sc. Rnd 7: Rep Rnd 3. Rnd 8: Ch 1, * sc in each of the next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around, join with a sl st in beg ch-1 – 42 sc. Rnds 9 – 15: Rep Rnd 3. Right Earflap: Row 1: Sl st in each of the next 3 sc, sc in each of the next 10 sc. Turn. Rows 2 and 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc across. Turn. Row 4: Sc2tog, sc to last 2 sc, sc2tog – 8 sc. Turn. Row 5: Rep Row 2. Row 6: Rep Row 4 – 6 sc. Row 7: Rep Row 2. Row 8: Rep Row 4 – 4 sc. Row 9: Rep Row 2. Row 10: (Sc2tog) twice – 2 sc. Row 11: Sc2tog. Fasten off. Left Earflap: Skip 16 sc on last rnd of hat. Join yarn in next sc. Ch 1, sc in same sc, then in next 9 sc – 10 sc. Turn. Complete same as right earflap. FINISHING Ties (Make 2): With crochet hook , using 2 strands held together, join yarn at end of earflap. Ch 20. Fasten off. Make a 2” pompon and tie to top of hat. |
