STITCH GLOSSARY

FPHDC (Front post half double crochet)

Yo, insert hook into space before next hdc from front, around the body (or post) of the st and out to the front, yo, pull loop through, then yo and pull through all 3 loops on hook.

JAVA JAMMIE

With crochet hook, ch 31 (should measure approximately 7 3/4”).  Join with a sl st to form a ring, being careful not to twist sts.

Rnd 1:  Work 1 sl st in each ch around.  Mark last st worked with pin.  Do not join.  You will be working from here in a spiral.  Each time you reach the end of a rnd, move the pin up.

Rnd 2:  Work 1 hdc in each sl st around.

Rnds 3:  Work 1 FPHDC in each hdc around.

Rnds 4 – 13:  Work 1 FPHDC in each FPHDC around.  Whenever the color of the yarn changes, make a flower between the last 2 FPHDC you made as follows:

Turn piece sideways and work (sc, ch 2, dc, ch 2, sc) all around post of the FPHDC you just worked (1 petal made).  Turn work so that petal is on your right.  Work (sc, ch 2, dc, ch 2, sc) all in the top of the FPHDC in the row below (2nd petal made).  Turn work so that the last petal is on your right.  Work (sc, ch 2, dc, ch 2, sc) all around post of the FPHDC made just before the last (3rd petal made).  Turn work so that the last petal is on your right.  Work (sc, ch 2, dc, ch 2, sc) all in space between the last 2 FPHDC’s made.  Flower of 4 petals is complete.  Continue to work 1 FPHDC in each FPHDC of rnd to the end.  Note:  If the color changes directly over a flower made on the previous rnd, work 2 or 3 more FPHDC’s before making the next flower.  As you work each rnd of FPHDC’s, when you reach a flower made on the previous rnd, hold top petal forward, work 1 hdc between 1st sc and dc of petal, 1 hdc between dc and last sc of petal, 1 hdc in space before next FPHDC, then continue rnd.  This will add 1 st to the rnd just worked.

Rnd 14:  Sl st in each st around. Join with a sl st in first sl st.  Fasten off.

Note:  To increase height of Java Jammie, just continue to work more rnds.
