FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

Approximately 7” across x 7” high (Including tentacles)

 

MATERIALS

1 Hank BERROCO LUMINA (25 grs), #1610 Fairy Dust

16” Length circular knitting needle, size 7 (4.50 mm)

1 Set (4) double pointed knitting needles (dpn), size 4 (3.50 mm)

Crochet hook, size 3.50 mm (E)

One 1” metal or plastic ring

Glue

1 St marker

Tapestry needle

 

NOTE

There are no gauge requirements for this project

 

BODY

With circular needle, cast on 84 sts.  Join, being careful not to twist sts.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.

Rnd 1:  * Yo, p3 tog, k1, p3 tog, rep from * around – 48 sts..

Rnd 2:  * P1, k1, yo, SSK, rep from * around.

Rnd 3:  * P1, k2 tog, yo, k1, rep from * around. 

Rnds 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12:  Rep Rnd 2.

Rnds 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13:  Rep Rnd 3.

Rnd 14:  With dpn’s, * k2 tog, k2, rep from * around – 36 sts.  Divide sts evenly onto 3 needles (12 sts per needle).

Rnd 15:  Purl.

Rnd 16:  Knit.

Rnd 17:  * Yo, k2 tog, rep from * around.

Rnds 18 and 19:  Knit.

Rnd 20:  * K1, k2 tog, rep from * around – 24 sts.

Rnd 21:  Purl.

Rnd 22:  Knit.

Rnd 23:  * K2 tog, rep from * around – 12 sts.

Rnd 24:  Knit.

Rnd 25:  * K2 tog, rep from * around – 6 sts.  Break off yarn leaving a 6” long end.  Thread end into tapestry needle and draw through all sts on needles.  Pull up tightly and secure.

 

FINISHING

With crochet hook, make 9 chains varying from 5” long to 7” long for tentacles.  Weave in 1 end on each chain and tie the other end of each chain to ring.  Trim ends and secure each with a drop of glue.  When glue has dried, sew center of body loosely to ring so that tentacles hang below as in photo.
