FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Chest – 48”.
Length – 25” down to front point (Not including fringe).

MATERIALS
BERROCO DUO (50 grs), 15 balls #3260 Sky.
24” and 29” length circular knitting needles, size 11 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
Crochet hook, size 5.50 mm (I).
4 St markers (1 a different color to mark beg of rnd).

GAUGE
12 sts = 4”; 18 rows = 4” in St st.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

NOTE
This garment is worked all in 1 piece, in the round from the neck down.

PONCHO
Cowl: With shorter circular needle, cast on 78 sts. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up (use different colored marker here).
Rnd 1: K37, place marker, k2, place marker, k37, place marker, k2.
Rnd 2: P37, sl marker, k2, sl marker, p37, sl marker, k2. Rep these 2 rnds until piece measures 8” from beg.
Body: St st Band: Rnd 1: M1k, k37, M1k, place marker, k2, place marker, M1k, k37, M1k, place marker, k2 – 82 sts.
Rnd 2: Knit. Continue to inc 4 sts in this manner every other rnd until piece measures 6” from beg when measured straight up front and back from neck to point, end with Rnd 1. Note: When there are too many sts to fit comfortably on shorter circular needle, change to longer circular needle.
Garter St Band: Rnds 1 and 3: P to first marker, sl marker, k2, sl marker, p to next marker, sl marker, k2.
Rnd 2: Knit, slipping markers.
Rnd 4: M1k, k to 1 st before first marker, M1k, sl marker, k2, sl marker, M1k, k to 1 st before next marker, M1k, sl marker, k2. Rep the last 4 rnds until piece measures 12” from beg when measured straight up front and back from neck to point, end with Rnd 4. Rep St st Band and Garter St Band once more, continuing to inc as before. Piece should measure 24” from beg when measured straight up front and back from neck to point. Continue to work Garter St Band until piece measures 25” from beg. Bind off all sts.

FINISHING
Fringe: Cut four 18” long strands of yarn. Put strands tog and fold in half. With crochet hook, draw center of strands through space between 2 center sts at front of poncho forming a lp. Pull ends of fringe through this lp. In this manner, make fringe every 1/2” along entire lower edge of poncho. Trim fringe to even off if necessary.
