MATERIALS
BERROCO ECHO (50 grs), 8(8-9-10-11-12-13)
balls #4522 Ranch Hand.
Straight knitting needles, sizes 8 and 10 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
16 length circular knitting needle, size 8.
Cable Needle (cn).
1 St Marker.
Five 1 buttons.
GAUGE
18 sts = 4; 26 rows = 4 in St st on size 10 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
NOTE
Buttons are non-working, used for decoration only.
BACK
With smaller straight needles, cast on 75(79-85-89-99-107-117) sts. Knit
4 rows. Change to larger needles and work even in St st until piece measures
14 from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Next Row (RS): K2, sl 2 sts to cn and hold
in BACK, k2, then SSK from cn, k to last 6 sts, sl 2 sts to cn and hold
in FRONT, k2 tog, then, k2 from cn, k2. Rep this dec every RS row 7(7-7-7-10-10-10)
times more. Work even on 59(63-69-73-77-85-95) sts until armholes measure
5 1/2(5 1/2-6-6-6 1/2-7-7 1/2), end on WS.
Note: Work decs at left side of neck as k2 tog, k2. Work decs at
right side of neck as k2, SSK.
Shape Neck: Next Row (RS): K16(18-21-23-25-29-34), join another
hank of yarn and bind off center 27 sts, k to end. Working both sides
at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge as in note every RS row 4 times. When
armholes measure 7 1/2(7 1/2-8-8-8 1/2-9-9 1/2), end on WS.
Shape Shoulders: Bind off 6(7-8-9-10-12-15) sts at beg of the next
2 rows, then 6(7-9-10-11-13-15) sts at beg of the next 2 rows.
FRONT
With smaller straight needles, cast on 75(79-85-89-99-107-117) sts. Knit
4 rows. Change to larger needles.
Establish Faux Buttonband: Row 1: K to last 6 sts, place marker,
k to end.
Row 2: K to marker, p to end. Work even in pat as established until
piece measures 13, end on WS. Knit the next row, dropping marker.
From this point, work all sts in St st. Complete same as for back.
SLEEVES
With smaller straight needles, cast on 36(36-38-38-38-41-41) sts. Knit
4 rows. Change to larger needles and work in St st until piece measures
1 from beg, end on WS. Inc 1 st each side of next row, then every
1(1-3/4-1/2-1/2-1/2-1/2) 8(8-9-12-14-15-17) times more. Work even
on 54(54-58-64-68-73-77) sts until sleeve measures 10 from beg,
end on WS.
Shape Cap: Next Row (RS): K2, sl 2 sts to cn and hold in BACK,
k2, then SSK from cn, k to last 6 sts, sl 2 sts to cn and hold in FRONT,
k2 tog, then k2 from cn, k2. Rep this dec every RS row 16 times more,
end on WS. Bind off 2(2-2-5-5-5-5) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Bind
off remaining 16(16-20-20-24-29-33) sts.
FINISHING
Steam pieces with hot steam iron and a pressing cloth. Sew shoulder seams.
Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at center
back neck, pick up and k27 sts to left shoulder seam, 13 sts along left
front neck edge, 28 sts across front neck edge, 13 sts along right front
neck edge, 13 sts along right back neck, then 14 sts across remaining
back neck edge 108 sts. Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.
Knit 3 rows. Bind off all sts. Sew 5 buttons evenly spaced along faux
buttonband of front.
