29” Length circular knitting needles, sizes 8 and 10 1/2 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

24” Length circular knitting needle, size 10 1/2

Straight knitting needles, sizes 8 and 10 1/2

16 sts = 4”;  20 rows = 4” in St st with MC on size 10 1/2 needles

NOTE

Body is worked in one piece in the round.  Sleeves are worked on straight needles.  Body and sleeves are joined at underarms and yoke is worked in the round.

BODY

With smaller 29” circular needle, using MC, cast on 176(192-208-224-240-256) sts.  Join, being careful not to twist sts.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  Work even in k2, p2 ribbing for 4”.  Change to larger 29” circular needle and k the next row, dec 48 sts evenly spaced around – 128(144-160-176-192-208) sts.  Work even in St st (k EVERY rnd) until piece measures 18” from beg.  Leave all sts and marker on needle for yoke.

SLEEVES

With larger straight needles, using MC, cast on 40 sts.

Row 1 (RS):  K1, * yo, k1, rep from * across.

Row 2:  Knit, dropping yo’s.  Join A and B and, with 1 strand each of MC, A and B held tog, work even in Reverse St st until sleeve measures 4” from beg, end on WS.  Break off A and B and work in St st with MC only, inc 1 st each side every 3 1/4(3 1/4-2-1 1/2-1 1/4-1)” 4(4-6-8-10-12) times – 48(48-52-56-60-64) sts.  Work even until sleeve measures 18” from beg, end on WS.  Sl sts onto holder for yoke.

YOKE

With RS facing, using MC, k64(72-80-88-96-104) sts of body for back, k48(48-52-56-60-64) sts from 1st sleeve holder for left sleeve, k64(72-80-88-96-104) sts of body for front, then k48(48-52-56-60-64) sts from 2nd sleeve holder for right sleeve – 224(240-264-288-312-336) sts.  Note:  When decreasing, if there are too few sts to fit comfortably on longer circular needle, change to shorter circular needle.  K 2 rnds.

Dec Rnd 1: [K10(8-7-6-5-5), k2 tog)] 15(13-26-27-16-40) times, [k9(9-8-7-6-6), k2 tog], 4(10-3-8-25-7) times  – 205(217-235-253-271-289) sts.  Knit 5(5-5-5-7-8) rnds.

Dec Rnd 2:  [K9(7-6-5-4-4), k2 tog] 15(13-26-27-16-40) times, [k8(8-7-6-5-5), k2 tog] 4(10-3-8-25-7) times – 186(194-206-218-230-242) sts.  Knit 7(7-7-7-9-10) rnds.

Dec Rnd 3:  [K8(6-5-4-3-3), k2 tog] 15(13-26-27-16-40) times, [k7(7-6-5-4-4), k2 tog] 4(10-3-8-25-7) times – 167(171-177-183-189-195) sts.  Knit 0(0-2-4-4-4) rnds.

Dec Rnd 4:  [K7(5-4-3-2-2), k2 tog] 15(13-26-27-16-40) times, [k6(6-5-4-3-3), k2 tog] 4(10-3-8-25-7) times – 148 sts.  Join A and B and, with 1 strand each of MC, A and B held tog, purl 6 rnds.

Dec Rnd 5:  (P3, p2 tog) 20 times, (p4, p2 tog) 8 times – 120 sts.  Purl 7 rnds.

Dec Rnd 6: (P3, p2 tog) 24 times – 96 sts.  Purl 5 rnds.  Break off A and B and bind off with MC only.

FINISHING

Sew sleeve seams.
