MATERIALS
BERROCO ECHO (50 grs), 5(5-6-7-8) balls
#4528 Dungaree.
Straight knitting needles, size 8 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
GAUGE
18 sts = 4”; 26 rows = 4” in Reverse St st.
20 sts = 4”; 26 rows = 4” in k1, p1 ribbing.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
BACK
With straight needles, cast on 75(78-83-88-93) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K1, (p1, k1) 12(12-13-14-15) times, p25(28-29-30-31),
k1, (p1, k1) 12(12-13-14-15) times.
Row 2: P1, (k1, p1) 12(12-13-14-15) times, k25(28-29-30-31), p1,
(k1, p1) 12(12-13-14-15) times. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures
1 1/2” from beg, end on WS.
Row 1 (RS): P50(53-56-59-62), work in ribbing as established to
end.
Row 2: Work in ribbing as established over first 25(25-27-29-31)
sts, k to end. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 9” from beg,
end on WS.
Row 1 (RS): K1, (p1, k1) 12(12-13-14-15) times, p to end.
Row 2: K50(53-56-59-62), work in ribbing as established to end.
Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 11’ from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 4 sts at beg of the next 2 rows.
Dec Row (RS): K1, p1, SSK, work to last 4 sts, k2 tog, p1, k1.
Rep this dec every RS row 7 times more – 51(54-59-64-69) sts. Work
even in pat as established, keeping 3 sts at each armhole edge in k1,
p1, k1 ribbing until armholes measure 5 1/2(5 1/2-6-6 1/2-7)”, end
on WS.
Row 1 (RS): K1, (p1, k1) 6(6-7-8-9) times, p13(16-17-18-19), k1,
(p1, k1) 12(12-13-14-15) times.
Row 2: P1, (k1, p1) 12(12-13-14-15) times, k13(16-17-18-19), p1,
(k1, p1) 6(6-7-8-9) times. Rep these 2 rows until armholes measure 7 1/2(7
1/2-8-8 1/2-9)”, end on WS. Bind off all sts for shoulders and back
neck.
FRONT
Work same as for back until armholes measure 6 1/2(6 1/2-7-7 1/2-8)”
from beg, end on WS.
Shape Neck: Work 13(13-15-17-19) sts, join another ball of yarn
and bind off center 25(28-29-30-31) sts, work to end. Working both sides
at once, work even on 13(13-15-17-19) sts each side until armholes measure
7 1/2(7 1/2-8-8 1/2-9)”, end on WS. Bind off all sts for shoulders.
FINISHING
Steam pieces with a hot steam iron and pressing cloth. Sew shoulder and
side seams.
