Paris, our triangular shawl in Zen ribbon is crocheted with alternating bands of an elongated V-st and single crochet.

Work 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, turn – 3 sc. Row 1: Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in last sc, turn – 5 sc. Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last sc, turn – 7 sc. Row 3: Inc 1 st each end as in Row 2.
Row 4: Ch 5 (counts as 1 DTR), DTR in first sc, Vst in next sc, (skip 2 sc, Vst in next sc) twice, 2 DTR in last st, turn. Row 5: Ch 1, sc in first DTR, 2 sc in next DTR, sc in each DTR and ch of Vsts across to last 2 sts, 2 sc in DTR, sc in top of ch-5, turn. Rows 6 and 7: Ch 1, sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc across to last 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last sc, turn. Row 8: Ch 5 (counts as 1 DTR), Vst in first sc, skip 2 sc, * Vst in next sc, skip 2 sc, rep from * across to last sc, work 1 Vst and 1 DTR in last st, turn. Row 9: Ch 1, sc in first DTR, 2 sc in next DTR, 1 sc in each DTR and ch of Vsts across to last 2 sts, 2 sc in next DTR, sc in top of ch-5, turn. Rows 10 and 11: Rep Row 6. Row 12: Ch 5 (counts as I DTR), Vst in first sc, skip 1 sc, Vst in next sc, skip 2 sc, Vst in next sc, * skip 2 sc, Vst in next sc, rep from * across to lst 2 sc, skip 1 sc, work 1 Vst and 1DTR in last sc, turn. Rows 13 – 15: Rep Rows 9 – 11. Rep Rows 12 – 15 eleven times more. Fasten off. FINISHINGFringe: Cut two 22” long strands of yarn. Put strands tog and fold in half. With RS facing, using crochet hook, draw center of strands through ch at beg of shawl forming a loop. Pull ends of strands through loop. In this manner, make fringe in each sc row along side edges of shawl. Trim to even off if necessary. Note: For speedier cutting, wrap yarn multiple times around a piece of cardboard that is the desired length of the fringe. Cut lower edge to free wrapped strands.
