Trilogy

Po Boy is a simple square-shaped purse crocheted in Trilogy. We’ve added a handy outside pocket and a readymade braided leather handle.

SIZE

Approximately 8” wide x 8” high (Not including handle)

MATERIALS

3 Balls BERROCO TRILOGY (50 grs), #7609 Edinburgh Rust

Crochet hook, size 6.00 mm (J) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

One 1 1/4” button

One 1 1/4” wide x 17” long braided leather handle with ring at each end from M & J Trimming

Safety pin for marker

GAUGE

14 sc’s = 4”;  16 rows = 4” with size 6.00 mm (J) crochet hook

TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

BAG

With crochet hook, ch 56.  Join, being careful not to twist sts.  Mark for beg of rnd with pin and carry marker up.

Rnd 1:  Ch 1, work 1 sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in ch-1 – 56 sc’s.  Rep this rnd until piece measures 8” from beg.  Fasten off.

POCKET

With crochet hook, ch 16.  Join, being careful not to twist sts.  Mark for beg of rnd with pin and carry marker up.

Rnd 1:  Ch 1, work 1 sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in ch-1 – 16 sc’s.  Rep this rnd until piece measures 3 3/4” from beg.

Shape Flap:  Row 1:  Sl st in next st, sc in next 14 sc’s, turn – 14 sc’s.  Mark beg and end of last row.

Row 2:  Ch 1, work 1 sc in each sc across.  Turn.  Rep Row 2 until flap measures 1 3/4”.

Buttonhole Row:  Ch 1, work 1 sc in each of the next 6 sc’s, ch 2, skip 2 sc’s, sc in each sc to end.  Turn.

Next Row:  Ch 1, work 1 sc in each sc and ch across – 14 sc’s.  Turn.  Rep Row 2 until flap measures 3”.  Fasten off.

FINISHING

Fold bag flat and sew bottom seam.  Fold pocket flat with flap at back and sew bottom seam.  Pin pocket to center of bag front with bottom of pocket 1” up from bottom of bag.  Sew pocket to bag across marked row at base of flap.  Sew button to front of pocket under buttonhole.  Sew one ring of handle to each side of bag.
