MATERIALS

8(10-11) Balls BERROCO BOHO COLORS (50 grs), #9355 Chili Pepper

29”  and 16” Length circular knitting needles, size 9 (5.50 mm) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

1 Set (4) double pointed knitting needles (dpn), size 9 (5.50 mm)

Straight knitting needles, size 9 (5.50 mm)

1 St marker

Tapestry needle

GAUGE

20 sts = 4”;  28 rnds = 4” in St st (k EVERY rnd) on circular needle

TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

BODY

Note:  When there are too few sts to fit comfortably on longer circular needle, change to shorter circular needle.  When there are too few sts to fit comfortably on shorter circular needle, change to dpn’s and divide sts on 3 needles.

With longer circular needle, cast on 363(396-429) sts.  Join, being careful not to twist sts.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  (Purl 1 rnd, knit 1 rnd) 5 times.  Knit 4 rnds.

Dec Rnd 1:  * K9(10-11), k2 tog, rep from * around – 330(363-396) sts.  Knit 9 rnds.

Dec Rnd 2:  * K8(9-10), k2 tog, rep from * around – 297(330-363) sts.  Knit 9 rnds.

Dec Rnd 3:  * K7(8-9), k2 tog, rep from * around – 264(297-330) sts.  Knit 4 rnds.

Armhole Rnd:  K18(23-28), bind off 28(30-33), k until there are 172(191-208) sts worked after bound-off sts, bind off 28(30-33) sts, k to end.

Following Rnd:  Knit, casting on 28(30-33) sts over each group of sts bound off on previous rnd.  Knit 2 rnds.

Dec Rnd 4:  * K6(7-8), k2 tog, rep from * around – 231(264-297) sts.  Knit 9 rnds.

Dec Rnd 5:  * K5(6-7), k2 tog, rep from * around – 198(231-264) sts.  Knit 7 rnds.

Dec Rnd 6:  * K4(5-6), k2 tog, rep from * around – 165(198-231) sts.  Knit 7 rnds.

Dec Rnd 7:  * K3(4-5), k2 tog, rep from * around – 132(165-198) sts.  Knit 5 rnds.

Dec Rnd 8:  * K2(3-4), k2 tog, rep from * around – 99(132-165) sts.  Knit 5 rnds.

Dec Rnd 9:  * K1(2-3), k2 tog, rep from * around – 66(99-132) sts.  Knit 5 rnds.

For Sizes 6 and 8 ONLY:  Dec Rnd 10:  * K1(2), k2 tog, rep from * around – 66(99) sts.  Knit 5 rnds.

For Size 8 ONLY:  Dec Rnd 11:  * K1, k2 tog, rep from * around – 66 sts.  Knit 5 rnds.

For ALL Sizes:  Next Rnd:  * K2 tog, rep from * around – 33 sts.  Knit 5 rnds.

Last Dec Rnd:  K1, * k2 tog, rep from * around – 17 sts.  Knit 3 rnds.  Break off yarn leaving a long end.  Thread end into tapestry needle and draw through all sts on needle.  Pull up tightly and secure.

SLEEVES

With straight needles, cast on 32(34-36) sts.  Work even in St st for 1”, end on WS.  Inc 1 st each side on next row, then every 3/4” 10(12-14) times more – 54(60-66) sts.  Work even until sleeve measures 10 1/2(11 1/2-12 1/2)” from beg, end on WS.  Bind off.

FINISHING

Sew sleeve seams.  Sew sleeves into armholes.
