FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Bust – 36(40-44-48-52)”
Length – 26(26 1/2-26 1/2-27-27 1/2)”
Note:  This garment was designed to have a slightly oversized fit.  Please take this into consideration when selecting your size.

 

MATERIALS
11(12-14-15-17) Balls BERROCO PURE MERINO  (50 grs), #8582Colonial Blue
Straight knitting needles, sizes 8 and 9 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
29” Length circular knitting needle, size 8
3 St markers
2 St holders

 

GAUGE
18 sts = 4”;  24 rows = 4” in St st on size 9 needles
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

 

BACK

With smaller straight needles, cast on 106(114-126-134-142) sts.

Ribbing:  Row 1 (RS):  K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across.

Row 2:  P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across.  Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 4” from beg, end on RS.  Change to larger needles and p the next row, dec 24(24-26-26-24) sts evenly spaced across – 82(90-100-108-118) sts.  Work even in St st until piece measures 17 1/2” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Armholes:  Bind off 4(4-4-5-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 74(82-92-98-106) sts.  Dec 1 st each side every RS row 3(3-5-6-8) times – 68(76-82-86-90) sts.  Work even until armholes measure 8(8 1/2-8 1/2-9-9 1/2)”, end on WS.

Shape Shoulders:  Bind off 7(9-11-12-13) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 7(9-10-11-12) sts at beg of the next 2 rows.  Sl remaining 40 sts to holder for back neck.

 

FRONT

Work same as back until piece measures 14 1/2(15-15-15 1/2-16)”, end on WS – 82(90-100-108-118) sts.

Shape V-Neck:  Next Row (RS):  K40(44-49-53-58), sl center 2 sts onto holder, join another ball of yarn and k to end.  Working both sides at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge every RS row 7 times, then every other RS row 12 times.  AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 17 1/2” from beg (before all neck decs have been completed), shape armholes same as back.  When all armhole and neck decs have been completed, work even on 14(18-21-23-25) sts each side until armholes measure 8(8 1/2-8 1/2-9-9 1/2)”, end on WS.

Shape Shoulders:  Bind off 7(9-11-12-13) sts at each armhole edge once, then 7(9-10-11-12) sts once.

 

FINISHING

Sew shoulder seams.

Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at left shoulder, pick up and k68 sts along left front neck edge, k1 sts from holder, place marker, k remaining st from holder, pick up and k68 sts along right front neck edge, then k40 sts from holder across – 178 sts. Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.
Rnd 1: * K2, p2, rep from * to 2 sts before 1st marker, work k2 tog, sl marker, SSK, p1, * k2, p2, rep from * to end – 176 sts. Rep this rnd in k2, p2 rib until band measures 2”. Bind off in ribbing, dropping markers.

Armbands:  With RS facing, using smaller straight needles, pick up and k118(122-122-126-130) sts around entire armhole edge.  Beg with Row 2, work in ribbing same as back for 1 1/2”, end on WS.  Bind off in ribbing.  Sew side and armband seams.
