FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Width – 27(31)”.
Length – 18(19)”.

MATERIALS
BERROCO CHINCHILLA (50 grs), 7(8) balls #5657 Oyster (MC).
BERROCO GLACE (50 grs), 6(7) hanks #2657 Oyster (CC).
29” Length circular knitting needle, size 8 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
Straight knitting needles, size 5.

GAUGE
14 sts = 4”;  20 rows = 4” in St st with MC on size 8 needles.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

NOTE
This shrug is made in one piece.  There is no opening for neck – you slip your arms into the sleeves with the entire piece behind your back.  Front edges of shrug are not intended to meet (see photo).

SHRUG
Back: 
With smaller straight needles, using CC, cast on 162(186) sts.
Row 1 (RS):  K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across.
Row 2:  P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across.  Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 5” from beg, end on RS.  Change to circular needle and MC and p the next row, dec 67(77) sts evenly spaced across – 95(109) sts.  Work even in St st for 1(2)”, end on WS. 
Shape Sleeves:  Inc 1 st each side of next row, then every RS row 10 times more, end on WS – 117(131) sts.  Cast on 2 sts at beg of the next 10 rows, end on WS – 137(151) sts.  Cast on 3 sts at beg of the next 10 rows – 167(181) sts.  Mark beg and end of last row for beg of cuff.  Work even until sleeves measure 10” above marker, end on WS.  Mark beg and end of last row for end of cuff.  Bind off 3 sts at beg of the next 10 rows, end on WS – 137(151) sts.  Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 10 rows, end on WS – 117(131) sts.  Dec 1 st each side of next row, then every RS row 10 times more – 95(109) sts. 
Front:  Work even in St st for 1(2)”, end on RS.  Change to smaller straight needles and CC and p the next row, inc 67(66) sts evenly spaced across – 162(186) sts.  Work in ribbing same as for back for 5”, end on WS.  Bind off all sts in ribbing.

FINISHING
Cuffs:
  With RS facing, using smaller straight needles and CC, pick up and k61 sts evenly spaced between markers.  Beg with Row 2, work in ribbing same as for back for 3 1/2”, end on WS.  Bind off all sts in ribbing.  Fold piece in half and sew side, sleeve and cuff seams.
