MATERIALS
10(11-14-15-18-20) Balls BERROCO GEODE (50 grs), #3644 Rainbow Agate
Straight knitting needles, size 7 (4.50 mm) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
29” Length circular knitting needle, size 7 (4.50 mm)
Two 1 1/4” buttons

GAUGE
26 sts = 4”;  25 rows = 4” in k2, p2 ribbing (unstretched)
16 sts = 4”;  28 rows = 4” in Pat St
Note:  Both st AND row gauge are very important to assure that your garment will have the correct measurements.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

K2, P2 Ribbing (Multiple of 4 sts + 2)
Row 1 (RS):  K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across.
Row 2:  P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across.
Rep these 2 rows for k2, p2 rib.

PATTERN STITCH (Multiple of 8 sts + 4)
Row 1 (RS):  Knit.
Row 2:  P4, * k4, p4, rep from * across.
Rep these 2 rows for Pat St.

NOTE
Right front and right sleeve are worked from side to side in Pat St.  Back, left front and left sleeve are worked from bottom to top in k2, p2 rib.

BACK

With straight needles, cast on 106(118-130-142-158-170) sts.  Work even in k2, p2 rib for 12(12-13-13-14-14)”, end on WS.

Shape Armholes:  Bind off 5(8-9-10-12-13) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 96(102-112-122-134-144) sts.  Dec 1 st each side every RS row 6(6-7-9-12-14) times – 84(90-98-104-110-116) sts.  Work even until armholes measure 7(7-7 1/2-8-8 1/2-9)”, end on WS.  Bind off in ribbing.

LEFT FRONT

With straight needles, cast on 54(58-66-70-78-86) sts.  Work even in k2, p2 rib for 12(12-13-13-14-14)”, end on WS.

Shape Armhole and V-Neck:  Next Row (RS):  Bind off 5(8-9-10-12-13) sts, work to last 2 sts, k2 tog.  Dec 1 st at armhole edge every RS row 6(6-7-9-12-14) times.  AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at neck edge every 4th row 0(1-0-3-4-5) times, then every RS row 20(16-20-15-14-14) times – 22(26-29-32-35-39) sts.  Work even until armhole measures 7(7-7 1/2-8-8 1/2-9)”, end on WS.  Bind off in ribbing.

RIGHT FRONT

With straight needles, cast on 38(38-42-42-46-46) sts.  Work even in Pat St for 2 rows, end on WS.

Note: As you work the following section, when 7 rows have been completed, work 2 buttonholes on next WS row by working as follows:  * P4, k4, p4, bind off 3 sts, rep from * once more, then work to end.  On next row, cast on 3 sts over each set of sts bound-off on previous row.

Shape Neck:  Next Row (RS):  Cast on 2(2-2-2-2-3) sts, work to end – 40(40-44-44-48-49) sts.  Work 1 row even, working cast-on sts into Pat St.  Working in this manner, cast on 2(2-2-2-2-3) sts at beg of the next 13(13-15-17-19-1) RS rows, then 1(1-1-1-0-2) sts at beg of the next 6(6-4-2-0-18) RS rows, end on WS – 72(72-78-80-86-88) sts.  Cast on 4 sts at beg of the next RS row – 76(76-82-84-90-92) sts.  Work even until piece measures 3 1/2(4-4 1/2-5-5 1/2-6)” above last group of cast-on sts, end on WS.

Shape Armhole:  Bind off  20(20-21-21-19-18) sts at beg of the next row – 56(56-61-63-71-74) sts.  Work 1 row even.  Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 1(1-3-4-3-3) RS rows, then 3 sts at beg of the next 2(2-1-1-3-4) RS rows – 48(48-52-52-56-56) sts.  Work even until piece measures 11(12-13-14-15-16)” from beg, end on WS.  Bind off.

LEFT SLEEVE

With straight needles, cast on 54(54-54-58-58-58) sts.  Work even in k2, p2 rib for 1”, end on WS.  Inc 1 st each end of next row, then every 1 1/2(1 1/2-1-1-3/4-3/4)” 11(11-14-15-19-22) times more, working incs into k2, p2 rib – 78(78-84-90-98-104) sts.  Work even until sleeve measures 18” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Cap:  Bind off 5(8-9-10-12-13) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 68(62-66-70-74-78) sts.  Dec 1 st each side every RS row 14 times – 40(34-38-42-46-50) sts.  Bind off 5(4-3-3-2-1) sts at beg of the next 4(2-4-2-4-4) rows, then 0(3-0-2-0-0) sts at beg of the next 0(2-0-2-0-0) rows.  Bind off remaining 20(20-26-32-38-46) sts.

RIGHT SLEEVE

Note:  You will be shaping both edges at the same time.  Please read through entire section before starting to knit.

With straight needles, cast on 10(10-8-8-7-6) sts.  Work 1 row in Pat St, end on WS.  Cast on 10(10-8-8-7-6) sts at beg of every WS row 4(4-8-8-5-11) times, then cast on 11(11-0-0-6-0) sts at beg of the next 2(2-0-0-5-0) rows, working cast-on sts in Pat St – 72 sts.  When piece measures 3/4(1 1/4-1 1/4-1 1/2-1 3/4-2)” from beg, end on WS.  Continue to cast on sts at beg of WS rows as before.  AT THE SAME TIME, cast on 2 sts at beg of the next 4 RS rows, then inc 1 st at beg of the next 12 RS rows, working incs in Pat St.  (When all sts have been cast on at beg of WS rows, work even at that edge while continuing to work incs at beg of RS rows.  When all incs have been completed, end on WS – 92 sts.  Mark end of last WS row.  Work even until piece measures 3(3-4-5-6-7)” above marker, end on WS.  Dec 1 st at beg of the next 12 RS rows, then bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 4 RS rows – 72 sts.  When left edge of piece (this is the lower edge of sleeve) measures 8(8-8-9-9-9)” above last group of cast-on sts, end on WS.  Continue to dec sts at beg of RS rows as before.  AT THE SAME TIME, bind off 11(11-0-0-6-0) sts at beg of the next 2(2-0-0-5-0) WS rows, then bind off 10(10-8-8-7-6) sts at beg of the next 5(5-9-9-6-12) WS rows.  When all decs at beg of RS rows have been completed, work even at that edge until all bind-offs at beg of WS rows have been completed.

FINISHING

Sew shoulder seams.  Sew in sleeves.  Sew side and sleeve seams.

Front/Neckband:  With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at lower right front edge, pick up and k45(45-50-50-55-55) sts along right front edge to beg of neck shaping, 60(60-62-64-66-68) sts along right front neck edge, 30 sts across back neck edge, then 40(40-42-44-46-48) sts along left front neck edge to beg of neck shaping – 175(175-184-188-197-201) sts.  Beg with a p row, work in St st for 1 1/4”, end on WS.  Bind off.  Lap right front over left front and sew on buttons under buttonholes.
