29” and 16” Length circular knitting needles, size 8 (5.00 mm) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Straight knitting needles, size 8 (5.00 mm)
2 St markers – 2 different colors
1 St holder

GAUGE
20 sts = 4”; 26 rows = 4” in St st
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

NOTE
Lower 3” of back and front are worked back and forth, then pieces are joined and worked in the round.  Sleeves are joined to body and yoke is worked in the round.

BACK

With straight needles, cast on 90(100-110-120-130-140) sts.  Work even in Garter St for 3”.  Break off yarn and leave sts on needle for body.

FRONT

With longer circular needle, work same as back until piece measures 3”.

BODY

Next Rnd:  K90(100-110-120-130-140) sts on circular needle, place marker, k90(100-110-120-130-140) sts from straight needle, join, mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up – 180(200-220-240-260-280) sts.  Work even in St st (k EVERY rnd) until piece measures 5(5-5½-5½-6-6)” from beg.

Dec Rnd:  K1, k2 tog, k to 3 sts before next marker, SSK, k1, sl marker, k1, k2 tog, k to 3 sts before last marker, SSK, k1 – 176(196-216-236-256-276) sts.  Rep this dec every 2 ¼” 4 times more – 160(180-200-220-240-260) sts.  Work even until piece measures 15(15-15½-15½-16-16)” from beg.  Break off yarn and leave sts on needle for yoke.

RIGHT SLEEVE

With straight needles, cast on 60(60-65-70-75-80) sts.  Work even in Garter St for 1½”.  Break off yarn and sl sts to holder for yoke.

LEFT SLEEVE

Work same as first sleeve for 1½”.  DO NOT break off yarn.

YOKE

Joining Rnd:  With circular needle, k60(60-65-70-75-80) sts of left sleeve, k40(45-50-55-60-65) sts of front, place marker, k remaining 40(45-50-55-60-65) sts of front, drop marker, k60(60-65-70-75-80) sts of right sleeve, then k remaining 80(90-100-110-120-130) sts of body, mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up – 280(300-330-360-390-420) sts.  Beg-of-rnd marker is now at left back armhole.  Knit 7(7-8-8-9-9) rnds.

Dec Rnd 1:  [K8(8-7-6-6-5), k2 tog] 6(30-30-18-42-12) times, [k9(0-8-7-7-6), k2 tog] 20(0-6-24-6-42) times – 254(270-294-318-342-366) sts.  Knit 7(7-8-8-9-9) rnds.

Dec Rnd 2:  [K7(7-6-5-5-4), k2 tog] 6(30-30-18-42-12) times, [k8(0-7-6-6-5), k2 tog] 20(0-6-24-6-42) times – 228(240-258-276-294-312) sts.  Knit 7(7-7-8-9-9) rnds.

Dec Rnd 3:  [K6(6-5-4-4-3), k2 tog] 6(30-30-18-42-12) times, [k7(0-6-5-5-4), k2 tog] 20(0-6-24-6-42) times – 202(210-222-234-246-258) sts.  Knit 7(7-7-8-8-9) rnds.

Dec Rnd 4:  [K5(5-4-3-3-2), k2 tog] 6(30-30-18-42-12) times, [k6(0-5-4-4-3), k2 tog] 20(0-6-24-6-42) times – 176(180-186-192-198-204) sts.  Knit 7(7-7-8-8-9) rnds.

Dec Rnd 5:  [K4(4-3-2-2-1), k2 tog] 6(30-30-18-42-12) times, [k5(0-4-3-3-2), k2 tog] 20(0-6-24-6-42) times – 150 sts.  Knit 7(7-7-7-8-8) rnds.

Divide for Neckband:  Knit to marker in center of front, turn.  From here, work back and forth, dropping beg-of-rnd marker.  Knit 9 rnds, end on WS.

Dec Row (RS):  * K3, k2 tog, rep from * around – 120 sts.  Knit 1 row.  Bind off.
