Vibe

Our petite felted backpack has felted drawstring and sturdy felted straps.

One size

SIZE

Approximately 10” wide x 12” high x 4” deep after felting (Not including straps)

MATERIALS

6 Balls BERROCO VIBE (50 grs), #4509 Green Door

Straight knitting needles, size 15

24” Length circular knitting needle, size 15

2 Double pointed knitting needles (dpn), size 10

4 St markers (1 a different color)

NOTE

There are no gauge requirements for this project

BASE

With straight needles, cast on 18 sts.  Work even in St st for 12”, end on WS.  Bind off.

BAG BODY

With RS facing, using circular needle, pick up and k18 sts across bound-off edge of base, place marker, pick up and k30 sts along one long edge of base, place marker, pick up and k18 sts along cast-on edge of base, place marker, then pick up and k30 sts along second long edge of base, place different colored marker for beg of rnd – 96 sts.  Join and carry markers up.  Work even in St st (k EVERY rnd) until piece measures 12” from picked-up sts.

Eyelet Rnd:  * K5, bind off 2 sts, k until there are 4 sts on RH needle after bound-off sts, bind off 2 sts, k to marker, sl marker, k5, (bind off 2 sts, k until there are 4 sts after bound-off sts) 3 times, bind off 2 sts, k to marker, sl marker, rep from * once more.

Next Rnd:  Knit, casting on 2 sts over each pair of sts bound off on previous rnd – 96 sts.  Work even in St st until piece measures 15” from picked-up sts.  Bind off.

STRAPS (Make 2)

With straight needles, cast on 10 sts.  Work even in St st for 33”, end on WS.  Bind off.

I-CORD

With dpn’s, cast on 3 sts.

Row 1:  * K3, do not turn work.  Slide sts to beg of needle to work next row from RS.  Rep from * until cord measures 43”.  Fasten off.

FINISHING

Felt pieces by washing in washing machine with hot water and soap.  Check often while washing.  Felt straps to 27” and I-Cord to 38”.  Shape by hand and allow to air dry.  Sew one end of each strap 1 1/2” down from top edge of bag on one long side having ends of straps 2” apart.  Sew the other ends of straps to picked-up edge along same side of back with ends of straps 4” apart.  Weave I-Cord in and out of eyelets beg and end on opposite side from straps.
