SIZES FINISHED MEASUREMENTS MATERIALS GAUGE PATTERN STITCH (Multiple of 3 sts) HAT With circular needle, using A, cast on 100 sts. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up. Knit 3 rnds. Work even in k2, p2 ribbing until piece measures 4½" from beg. K the next rnd, dec 19 sts around – 81 sts. Work even in Pat St until piece measures 10½" from beg, end with Rnd 2. Change to B and work even in St st (k EVERY rnd) until piece measures 19 1/2" from beg. K the next rnd, inc 19 sts around – 100 sts. Work even in k1, p1, ribbing until piece measures 22½" from beg. Bind off. FINISHING Turn hat inside out. Holding piece in both hands, twist gently 3 times. Keeping piece twisted, turn right side out, then fold A section over B section so that A section is outside. Sew bound-off edge of B section to beg of ribbing on A section, leaving 3 rows of St st at beg free. Hat should now have a folded top edge as in photo. Top of hat is actually open, but will be covered by the folds.
