Approximately 20” around x 10½” high

MATERIALS
1 Hank each BERROCO FLICKER (50 grs), #3307 Rothbart (A) and #3312 Odile (B)
16” Length circular knitting needle, size 9 (5.50 mm) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
1 St marker
Tapestry needle

GAUGE
20 sts = 4”; 28 rnds = 4” in St st

PATTERN STITCH (Multiple of 3 sts)
Rnd 1:  * K1, sl 1, k1, psso, yo, rep from * around.
Rnd 2:  Knit.
Rep these 2 rnds for Pat St.

HAT

With circular needle, using A, cast on 100 sts.  Join, being careful not to twist sts.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  Knit 3 rnds.  Work even in k2, p2 ribbing until piece measures 4½" from beg.  K the next rnd, dec 19 sts around – 81 sts.  Work even in Pat St until piece measures 10½" from beg, end with Rnd 2.  Change to B and work even in St st (k EVERY rnd) until piece measures 19 1/2" from beg.  K the next rnd, inc 19 sts around – 100 sts.  Work even in k1, p1, ribbing until piece measures 22½" from beg.  Bind off.

FINISHING

Turn hat inside out.  Holding piece in both hands, twist gently 3 times.  Keeping piece twisted, turn right side out, then fold A section over B section so that A section is outside.  Sew bound-off edge of B section to beg of ribbing on A section, leaving 3 rows of St st at beg free.  Hat should now have a folded top edge as in photo.  Top of hat is actually open, but will be covered by the folds.
