Every season, as we enter the Pitti Filati exposition, we are
thrust into a theme room and are bombarded with sights and sounds. There have been times I found this to be, frankly, a bit scary. This
season, however, ALL was sweetness and light. Handsome men dressed
as pastry chefs handed us our color forecast booklets as we entered
a room filled with knitted confections. The compelling treats were
divided into three delicious themes, each with its own long table
piled high with inspirational knit swatches in the form of
mouthwatering cakes and cookies and other confections. One table was
piled high with white temptations, one sparkled with bright gumdrop
colored treats and the third, my personal favorite, evoked dreams of
chocolate trimmed in gold. Check out the cleverly repurposed old
teapots, tin molds, candle sticks and plates stacked high to form
display pedestals, too.
