LlamaWhen Norah Gaughan joined our design team it became obvious that Berroco needed a great new classic yarn in a broad range of colors. Those of you who are familiar with Norah's work will appreciate that it takes a traditionally spun natural fiber yarn in a worsted weight to best exhibit her brilliant surface patterning.

Aware that our knitters and crocheters are looking for quality at an affordable price, our design team went to Peru to develop a special alpaca blend. By blending superfine alpaca with fine woolen fibers, our mill has spun a perfect mix of noble fibers for softness and crisp stitch definition. For the broadest appeal we chose a weight and twist that yields a beautiful 5 stitches per inch. It is also completely feltable.
Ultra® Alpaca
In today's KnitBits we are delighted to introduce Berroco Ultra™Alpaca in 50 magnificent shades of solids and heathers. Our 100 gram hanks have 215 yards, so it only takes 5 or 6 hanks for the average garment. It felts like a dream with a special furry finish that gives felted bags a touch of elegance.

BEGINNER'S Q & A

Berta from cyberspace wrote: "I have been knitting for many years and I am very proud of my knitting skills. My 4-year-old granddaughter Julia is going to be a flower girl at my youngest daughter's wedding this July. I would love to make a pretty dress for her to wear. Can you recommend a pattern to knit in your Berroco Yarns?"

Dear Berta, We have a perfectly adorable little dress pattern, Giselle, in our new spring collection. It is in Booklet #245 and it's knit in Cotton Twist™ and Zen™. It buttons down the back. You can tie it at the waist with a big satin bow in front or in back. If she is carrying a bouquet, you may prefer to tie the bow in back. The knitted lacy fabric will be cool and comfortable on a hot July day. When she gets compliments, and she will, you can proudly say, "I knit it myself."
Have a wonderful wedding.

All the best,
