Dear KnitBits® Subscribers,
Today we will take a virtual tour of our new spring '06 Booklet #242,
featuring Idol and Yoga. These two new yarns have lots going on.
XXXXXXXXXX
Idol™ is a cottony soft interlacing of colorful cotton tricot and silky soft gold chainette. It is available in 6 idyllic colorways and is great for quick summer knits with a hint of bling.
Yoga™ is an exercise in harmony and beauty. A space-dyed nylon ribbon is punctuated with bands of glistening metallic. Choose from 6 printed colors reminiscent of elegant Indian saris.

Vilma, the cover sweater on Booklet #242, is a modern scoop neck tunic knit in Yoga with eclectic details including slit batwing sleeves and a drawstring side seam to create fashion trendy asymmetry.
Vedrana is a simple cover up to wear over a bathing suit or bikini with loads of luscious ribbon fringes trimmed in a flattering v-shape. It's knit in Yoga and Suede™. Thelma is a twisted front vest with short sleeves knit in Idol and it's shown over Louise, a racer back tank top knit in Touché™.
Winona is a single garment with a the look of layers. We have joined a tie front with sleeves knit in Idol to a sleeveless top knit in Touché.
Bronte is a u-neck pullover with an extended shoulder sleevecap knit in Idol.
Bobbie is a dressed up tank in Idol trimmed with a v-band of Icon™ and Lazer FX™.
Valerie is a sleeveless cardigan with lots of ribbing knit in Yoga with a simple crocheted edge.

Roberta from cyberspace wrote: "I love your new ribbon yarn Yoga. I want to make a dressy top to wear to my niece's wedding in your color #6412 Ashram. I want to wear it over some linen pants that will coordinate. I look best in tunics and I love to wear lots of big jewelry. I want a cover-up with some conservative drama. Vilma looks interesting but the drawstring and bare upper arm is not for me. Can you help me modify this pattern?"
Roberta, I am so glad that you asked this question. I want all our readers to know that you can feel free to omit details to suit your individual style. Vilma can become a u-neck tunic by simply omitting the sleeve slits and the drawstring at the side. Another option for a dressy tunic that looks great with loads of big jewelry is Megan in Booklet #244 knit in Cotton Twist™. For a western take on Megan you could knit it in Suede™, Suede™ Deluxe or Suede™ Tri-Color. I hope I can encourage you and our readers to feel free to take our patterns to another level.
