A simple little sleeveless crew neck shell.

Shown in size Small.

Directions are for women’s size Small. Changes for sizes Medium, Large and X Large are in parentheses.

 

Finished Measurements

Bust - 36(40-44-48)”.

Length - 19(191/2-20-201/2)”.

 

Materials

Berroco Metallic FX (25 grs), 8(9-10-11) hanks #1002 Silver.

Straight knitting needles, sizes 6 and 8 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.

16" length circular knitting needle, size 6. 1 St Marker.

 

Gauge

11 sts = 2"; 31 rows = 4" in St st with size 8 needles.

TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

 

Back

With smaller straight needles, cast on 99(111-121-133) sts.

Row 1 (RS): K 1 TBL, * p 1, k 1 TBL, rep from * across.

Row 2: P 1, * k 1, p 1, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 11/2” from beg, end on WS. Change to larger needles and work even in St st until piece measures 11" from beg, end on WS.

Shape Armholes: Bind off 5(5-6-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then bind off 2(2-3-5) sts at beg of the next 2 rows.

Dec Row (RS): K 2, SKP, k to last 4 sts, k 2 tog, k 2. Rep this dec every RS row 3(3-3-5) times more. Work even on 77(89-95-99) sts until armholes measure 7(71/2-8-81/2)”, end on WS.

Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 7(9-10-10) sts, work until there are 18(22-22-24) sts on RH needle, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 27(27-31-31) sts, k to end. Working both sides at once, bind off 7(9-10-10) sts at beg of the next row, then bind off 7(9-9-10) sts at beg of the next 4 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, bind off 2 sts at each neck edge twice.

 

Front

Work same as for back until armholes measure 5(51/2-6-61/2)”, end on WS.

Note: Work decs on left side of neck as k 2 tog, k 2; work decs on right side of neck as k 2, SKP.

Shape Neck: Work 27(33-34-36) sts, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 23(23-27-27) sts, k to end. Working both sides at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge every RS row 6 times. AT THE SAME TIME, when armholes measure 7(71/2-8-81/2)”, shape shoulders same as for back.

 

Finishing

Steam pieces. Sew shoulder and side seams.

Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at left shoulder seam, pick up and k 17 sts along left front neck edge, 22(22-26-26) sts across front neck edge, 17 sts along right front neck edge and 44(44-48-48) sts across back neck edge - 100(100-108-108) sts. Mark for beg of round and carry marker up.

Round 1: * K 1 TBL, p 1, rep from * around.

Round 2: * K 1, p 1, rep from * around. Rep these 2 rounds for 1". Bind off in ribbing.

Armbands: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at side seam, pick up and k 100(104-108-112) sts evenly spaced around entire armhole edge. Mark for beg of round and carry marker up. Complete same as for neckband.
