Body Edging: With RS facing, using crochet hook and CC, join yarn at right side seam, work 1 row sc around lower, front and neck edges, join with a sl st in first sc.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in first sc, * ch 3, sc in first sc, skip 1 sc, sc in the next sc, rep from * around, join with a sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Sleeve Edging: Beg at sleeve seam, work same as for body edging. Lap right front over left front. Mark placement of 2 buttons to be sewn along right side seam on inside. Mark placement of 3 buttons to be sewn to left front spaced evenly along right front edge. Sew on buttons and button through ch-3 spaces of crocheted edging.

Hat (Sizes Small and Medium/Large)

With straight needle, using MC, cast on 72(80) sts. Divide sts evenly onto size 8 dpn’s, being careful not to twist sts. Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up. Work even in St st (k EVERY rnd) for 2".

Dec Rnd: * K2 tog, k7(8), rep from * around – 64(72) sts. Work 3 rows even. Continue to dec in this manner, having 1 less st between dec’s every 4th rnd 7(8) times more – 5 sts.

Next Rnd: K2 tog, k1, k2 tog – 3 sts. Sl all 3 sts onto smaller dpn and work as follows:

I-Cord: * K3, do not turn work. Slide sts to beg of needle to work next row from RS. Rep from * until cord measures 5". Bind off. Weave in end and tie in a knot. ** With smaller dpn and MC, pick up 3 sts at top of hat and work another I-Cord as before. Rep between **’s twice more, then with CC, rep between **’s 4 times – a total of four I-Cords in each color. Turn up cast-on edge of hat 1" to RS and slip-st loosely in place.
