MB (Make bobble)

(Yo, k1) 3 times in next st (6 sts made from 1), turn; p6, turn; k6, turn; (p2 tog) 3 times (3 sts left), turn; sl 1, k2 tog, psso – 1 st remains.

CF4

Sl 2 sts to cn and hold in FRONT, k2, k2 from cn

CB4

Rnd 1:  P6, CB4, p6.

Cable Pattern 1 (Worked over 4 sts)

Rnd 1:  CF4

Rnds 2, 3 and 4:  Knit 4

Rep these 4 rnds for Cable Pat 1.

CABLE PATTERN 2 (Worked over 4 sts)

Rnd 1:  CB4

Rnds 2, 3 and 4:  Knit 4

Rep these 4 rnds for Cable Pat 2.

 

Dress

With dpn’s, cast on 64 sts.  Divide sts onto 3 needles and join, being careful not to twist sts.  Mark for beg of rnd and carry marker up.  Work in k2, p2 ribbing for 3 rnds, then knit 2 rnds.

Bobble Rnd:  K2, MB, (k4, MB) 12 times, k1 – 13 bobbles made.  Knit 3 rnds.

Establish Cable Pats:  Rnd 1:  P4, work Rnd 1 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, work Rnd 1 of Diamond Pat over 16 sts, work Rnd 1 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, p8, work Rnd 1 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, p16, work Rnd 1 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, p4. 

Rnd 2:  P4, work Rnd 2 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, work Rnd 2 of Diamond Pat over 16 sts, work Rnd 2 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, p8, work Rnd 2 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, p16, work Rnd 2 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, p4.  Work even in pats as established until 16 rnds of Diamond Pat have been completed.  Break off yarn.  You will be working back and forth from here, still using dpn’s, but work will not be joined.

Divide for Front Neck:  Row 1 (RS):  Sl 16 sts to first dpn without working them; join yarn and k2, p2 tog, p4, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, p2, (p2 tog) twice, p2, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, p16, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, p2, (p2 tog) twice, p2, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, p4, p2 tog, k2 – 58 sts.  Turn.  (See note before Cable Pats).

Row 2:  P2, k5, work Row 2 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, k6, work Row 2 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, k16, work Row 2 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, k6, work Row 2 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, k5, p2.

Right Front:  Next Row (RS):  Using 1 dpn, p3, k2, p2, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, leave remaining 43 sts on dpn’s unworked for back and left front – 11 sts.

Following Row:  Work Row 2 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, k2, p2, k3.  Work even in pat as established for 2 more rows, end on WS.

Shape Neck:  Next Row (RS):  Bind off 2 sts, k2, p2, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts – 9 sts. 

Following Row:  Work Row 2 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, p2, k2, p1.  Work even in pat as established until piece measures 2½” above sts on circular needle, end on WS.  Bind off for shoulder.

Back:  With RS facing, join yarn in first st on circular needle; using 1 dpn, bind off 4 sts, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, p16, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, turn, leaving remaining 15 sts on circular needle for left front – 24 sts.

Next Row (WS):  Work Row 2 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, k16, work Row 2 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts.  Work even in pat as established until piece measures 2½” above sts on circular needle, end on WS.  Bind off.

Left Front:  With RS facing, join yarn in first st on circular needle; using 1 dpn, bind off 4 sts, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, p3, k2, p2.  Complete to correspond to right front, binding off sts for neck on WS row instead of RS row.

 

Finishing

Sew shoulder seams.

Buttonloop:  With RS facing, using crochet hook, join yarn with a sl st at marker on left front edge.  Ch 6, join with a sl st ½” above beg if ch.  Fasten off.  Sew button to right front edge opposite buttonloop.
