Back

With straight needles, cast on 70(82-90-102-110) sts.

Ribbing:  Row 1 (RS):  K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across.

Row 2: P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across.  Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 6” from beg, end on RS.  P the next row, dec 3(5-5-7-7) sts evenly spaced across – 67(77-85-95-103) sts.  Work even in St st until piece measures 7 1/2” from beg, end on WS.  Inc 1 st each side of next row, then every 1 1/4” 4 times more – 77(87-95-105-113) sts.  Work even until piece measures 14” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Raglan Armholes:  Bind off 4(4-5-5-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 69(79-85-95-101) sts.

Dec Row 1 (RS):  Work Seed St over 2 sts, k3 tog, k to last 5 sts, sl 1, k2 tog, psso, work Seed St over 2 sts – 65(75-81-91-97) sts.

Next Row:  Work Seed St over 2 sts, p to last 2 sts, work Seed St over 2 sts.  Rep these 2 rows 5(10-10-12-12) times more, end on WS – 45(35-41-43-49) sts.

Dec Row 2 (RS):  Work Seed St over 2 sts, k2 tog, k to last 4 sts, SSK, work Seed St over 2 sts – 43(33-39-41-47) sts.

Next Row:  Work Seed St over 2 sts, p to last 2 sts, work Seed St over 2 sts.  Rep these 2 rows 14(9-11-10-12) times more, end on WS – 15(15-17-21-23) sts.  Bind off.


Left Front

With straight needles, cast on 37(41-46-50-54) sts.

Establish Pat St:  Row 1 (RS):  K2, (p2, k2) 4 times, place marker, work 2 sts in Seed St, k to end.

Row 2:  P to 2 sts before marker, work 2 sts in Seed St, sl marker, p2, (k2, p2) 4 times.  Work even in pat as established until piece measures 2 1/2” from beg, end on WS.

Diagonal Seed St:  Row 1 (RS):  Work in ribbing as established to 2 sts before marker, sl 2 sts to cn and hold in BACK, sl marker, work 2 sts in Seed St, k2 from cn, k to end.

Rows 2, 4, 6 and 8:  Work even in pat as established.

Row 3:  Work in ribbing as established to 2 sts before marker, sl 2 sts to cn and hold in BACK, sl marker, work 2 sts in Seed St, k2 tog from cn, k to end – 36(40-45-49-53) sts.

Row 5:  Rep Row 1.

Following Row:  P19(23-28-32-36), work 2 sts in Seed St, p to end.  Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 7 1/2” from beg, end on WS.  Inc 1 st at beg of the next row, then at same edge every 1 1/4” 4 times more – 38(42-47-51-55) sts.  AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 11” from beg, (before all side incs have been worked), end on WS.

Next Row (RS):  Work to 2 sts before sts worked in Seed St, sl 2 sts to cn and hold in BACK, work 2 sts in Seed St, k2 from cn, k to end.

Following Row:  Work in pat as established.  Continuing to work incs at side edge, rep these 2 rows until the 2 sts worked in Seed St have been moved all the way to the side edge.  When all incs have been completed, work even continuing to move 2 sts worked in Seed St until piece measures 14” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Raglan Armhole:  Bind off 4(4-5-5-6) sts at beg of the next row, work to end – 34(38-42-46-49) sts.  Work 1 row even.  Continue to move 2 sts worked in Seed St as you shape armhole.

Dec Row 1 (RS):  Work 2 sts in Seed St, k3 tog, work to end.

Next Row:  Work to last 2 sts, work 2 sts in Seed St.  Rep these 2 rows 6(10-10-12-12) times more, end on WS – 20(16-20-20-23) sts.

Dec Row 2 (RS):  Work 2 sts in Seed St, k2 tog, work to end.

Next Row:  Work to last 2 sts, work 2 sts in Seed St.  Rep these 2 rows 13(9-11-10-12) times more, end on WS.  Bind off remaining 6(6-8-9-10) sts.


Right Front

With straight needles, cast on 37(41-46-50-54) sts.

Establish Pat St:  Row 1 (RS):  K17(21-26-30-34), place marker, work 2 sts in Seed St, k2, (p2, k2) 4 times.

Row 2:  P2, (k2, p2) 4 times, work 2 sts in Seed St, sl marker, p to end.  Work even in pat as established until piece measures 2 1/2” from beg, end on WS.

Diagonal Seed St:  Row 1 (RS):  K to marker, sl marker and 2 sts worked in Seed st to cn and hold in FRONT, k2, sl marker from cn onto RH needle and work 2 sts in Seed St from cn, work in ribbing as established to end.

Rows 2, 4, 6 and 8:  Work in ribbing as established.

Row 3:  K to marker, sl marker and 2 sts worked in Seed St to cn and hold in FRONT, k2 tog, sl marker from cn onto RH needle and work 2 sts in Seed St from cn, work in ribbing as established to end – 36(40-43-49-53) sts.

Row 5:  Rep Row 1.

Row 7:  K to marker, sl marker and 2 sts worked in Seed St to cn and hold in FRONT, work 2 sts in Seed St, sl marker from cn onto RH needle and work 2 sts in Seed St from cn, work in ribbing as established to end.  Note:  The 2 new sts worked in Seed St are now worked in Seed St throughout.

Next Row (RS):  K19(23-28-32-36), work 2 sts in Seed St, k to end dropping marker.

Following Row:  P12, work 2 sts in Seed St, p to end.  Complete to correspond to left front reversing shaping.  To move 2 sts worked in Seed St to the left, k to 2 sts worked in Seed St, sl these 2 sts onto cn and hold in FRONT, k2, work 2 sts in Seed St from cn, k to end.  Bind off for armhole and neck on WS instead of RS.  Work armhole decs as sl 1, k2 tog, psso, work 2 sts in Seed St instead of work 2 sts in Seed St, k3 tog and SSK, work 2 sts in Seed St instead of work 2 sts in Seed St, k2 tog.


Sleeves

With straight needles, cast on 42 sts.  Work in ribbing same as back for 6 1/2”, end on WS.  Work in St st, inc 1 st each side every 2 1/4(2 1/4-1 1/2-1 1/4-1)” 6(6-8-10-13) times – 54(54-58-62-68) sts.  Work even until sleeve measures 21” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Raglan Cap:  Bind off 4(4-5-5-6) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 46(46-48-52-56) sts.

Next Row (RS):  Work 2 sts in Seed St, k to last 2 sts, work 2 sts in Seed St.

Following Row:  Work 2 sts in Seed St, p to last 2 sts, work 2 sts in Seed St.  Rep these 2 rows 5(5-6-5-5) times more, then rep Next Row once, end on RS.

Next Row (WS):  Work 2 sts in Seed St, p20(20-21-23-25), place marker, p2, place marker, p to last 2 sts, work 2 sts in Seed St.

Dec Row (RS):  Work 2 sts in Seed St, k to 2 sts before first marker, SSK, sl marker, k2, sl marker, k2 tog, k to last 2 sts, work 2 sts in Seed St – 44(44-46-50-54) sts.  Rep this dec every RS row 13(13-14-16-18) times more, end on WS.  Bind off remaining 18 sts dropping markers.


Finishing

Sew raglan caps to raglan armholes.  Sew side and sleeve seams, reversing sleeve seams over lower 3 1/2” for foldback.

Neckband:  With RS facing, using straight needles, beg at right front edge, pick up and k80(80-84-88-92) sts around entire neck edge.

Row 1 (WS):  P3, k2, * p2, k2, rep from * to last 3 sts, end p3.

Row 2:  K3, p2, * k2, p2, rep from * to last 3 sts, end k3.  Rep these 2 rows until neckband measures 3”, end on WS.  Bind off in ribbing.

Left Frontband:  With RS facing, using straight needles, beg at top of neckband, pick up and k145(145-147-149-151) sts along edge of neckband and left front edge.

Row 1 (WS):  P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across.

Row 2:  K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.  Rep these 2 rows until frontband measures 1 1/4”, end on WS.  Bind off in ribbing.

Right Frontband:  Beg at lower left front edge, work same as left frontband for 1/2”, end on WS.

Buttonhole Row (RS):  Work 6(6-4-5-6) sts, bind off 2 sts, * work until there are 20(20-21-21-21) sts on RH needle after bound-off sts, bind off 2 sts, rep from * 5 times more, work to end.

Following Row:  Work in ribbing as established, cast on 2 sts over each pair of sts bound off on previous row.  Complete to correspond to left frontband.  Sew on buttons.
