Triangle (Make 2)
With size 8 needles, cast on 204 sts. Decreasing 1 st each side every RS row, work in St st for 6 rows. Piece should measure 3/4” from beg – 198 sts. Continuing to dec 1 st each side every RS row, work in Star Cluster St for 4”, in St st for 4”, in Star Cluster St for 4”, then in St st until 2 sts remain. K2 tog and fasten off.
Sew left edge of 1st triangle to right edge of 2nd triangle matching stripes and forming center seam. With RS facing, using crochet hook, join a single strand of yarn at point of triangle formed by center seam.
Rnd 1: * Sc in edge of shawl, ch 1, skip space the size of ch 1, rep from * around 3 sides of shawl. Join with a sl st in first sc. DO NOT turn.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sl st in each sc and ch 1 around 3 sides of shawl, working 3 sl sts in each corner. Join with a sl st in first sl st. Fasten off.
Fringe: Cut 2 15” length strands of yarn. Put strands tog and fold in half. With crochet hook, draw center of strands through first st of 1 shorter side of shawl, forming a lp. Pull ends of fringe through this lp. In this manner, make fringe in each st across shorter edges of shawl. Trim fringe to even off, if necessary. Steam lightly. Note: For speedier cutting, wrap yarn multiple times around a piece of cardboard that is the desired length of the fringe. Cut the lower edge to free wrapped strands.
